So I see there was some more chaos tonight, Alaska of all places staged a rebellion or something. And Mitch McConnell got deservedly booed.

As a Upstate resident who did a brief stint in NYC are you serious that you think Giuliani is one of the worst? where have you been the last 10 years?!?!?!? Bloomberg? Deblasio?
Did you support the dumb *** legislation like a ban on large soda? or large fries? Textbook tax? One of the two worst in my lifetime.
Jury is still out on Deblasio. I dislike Bloomberg but he wasn't as bad as either Giuliani or Dinkins.
And who in or from NYC cares what an appleknocker thinks? This is not a personal insult, its a comment on the worldview of New Yorkers. Which I am happy to have stepped out of.

As long as they have the Yankees I can't accept anything from New York.

I lived there for 5 years before I moved back upstate. Never get me there again. Most unfriendly people in the nation. There was a movement last year to break NYC off of New York and make it it's own state. I think it still got enough votes to be heard. That would be great. Anything north of Albany would be New Amsterdam. I would love for this to happen as most of all our tax dollars go to covering NYC.

"Chaos", lol. "Rebellion", double lol. There was confusion about the allocation of delegates and they wanted to make sure it was done correctly. Yeah, the recount held things up a bit, but that's about it.

Four score and seven years ago, we found these truths to be self-evident. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, will stand a tip-toe when the day is named. We will not go quietly into the night. They may take our lands, but they may never take our freedom. But soft, what light from yonder window breaks? Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country. I have a dream that one day, white people and black people will live in harmony. Sussudio. I don't know much but I know I love you, and that may be all I need to know. Out, out brief candle. This is our independence day!

I think the biggest lesson that American politics, the Liberals in particular, can take from the Trump saga is that appealing to emotion is dead as a political tool.

While not a bad idea -- I know plenty of NY (state) residents who are fed the *** up with the entire rest of the state being ignored (Buffalo says go *** yourself, NYC) -- don't see it happening. You've already got what is basically one string of Megalopolis-like size stretch from Boston to DC. Urban sprawl is real.

Anything north of Albany would be New Amsterdam. I would love for this to happen as most of all our tax dollars go to covering NYC. Last I heard, and this was late '80s, Albany spent 43 cents in NYC for every dollar they got from it in taxes. This was in an article saying the state was going to do better in that regard and outlining steps they were taking to make receipts and spending more equitable. But I have seen nothing on this mater since.

Interesting take on the plagiarism fluff.
Ugliness, hate in Cleveland overshadowed by Melania Trump's speech flap

Because the flap over things like Melania Trump's apparent, let's be nice, homage to Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech has effectively put a stop to broader discussion of an unparalleled storm of divisive, white-supremacist, isolationist, anti-American rhetoric pouring off the stage in Cleveland....

It's like the media either doesn't understand or they're helping -- rather, maybe even wants -- Trump to win by focusing on stupid minutiae (some of it not even true) instead of everything actually terrible about him.
Lizard men. You can't take over the world fast enough.
By Ramyrez 2016-07-20 08:42:08
Besides, does Trump seem like the kind of guy who marries a woman for her ability to present intelligent public discourse? Did you really expect anyone willing to marry Trump for his money to put together a thought-provoking, balanced public speech?
Why any of this is being talked about before actual issues just completely...well, I'd say it blows my mind, but it doesn't. *** people are stupid.

You're funny. The Trump saga completely runs off emotion. Do you think Trump could have reached the heights of destroying the entire Republican party without dredging up the most vile emotions in the country?
The entire pro-Trump, anti-Clinton rhetoric line is so laced with potent emotion that to draw the opposition conclusion is just flat confusing.

Nothing will change minds at this point.
The pols are in the tank for Trump because they need his increasingly vitriolic base, the Conservative press movement have been trashing Trump to no avail because Trump taps into that emotional core many across the country have that they are the chosen ones and every minority group in the country is to blame for their fall from grace. Or that Hillary Clinton and the Clintons are winged parademons. Or that Obama ushered in an era of unprecedented darkness.
Trump could decapitate a baby on stage at this rate and because of the emotions charged in the atmosphere it'd mean nothing. The press can continue to point out Trump isn't qualified and it means nothing.
We're well on our way to some true believer ***you see in the 3rd world. Good job America, we built that.

Quote: US TV network NBC is cutting ties with Donald Trump over "recent derogatory statements" that the veteran businessman made about immigrants.
NBC said the company would now not be airing the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants that are co-owned by Mr Trump.
Responding to the announcement, Mr Trump said he would consider suing NBC.
Earlier this month, he accused Mexicans of adding drugs and crime to the US as he announced he was seeking the Republican presidential nomination.
"They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists, and some I assume are good people, but I speak to border guards, and they tell us what we are getting," he said in his speech on 16 June.
He also pledged to build a "great wall" on the US border with Mexico and insisted it would be paid for by Mexicans.
He later insisted he was criticising US lawmakers, not Mexican people. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-33321290
I'm honestly surprised with some of the shit he says. Even though I probably shouldn't be.
