OK, full disclosure.
Mom and I almost died when I was born. Dad walked out of our lives the same day.
In the 90s he tried to gleefully tell me about Newt walking out on his wife while she was in intensive care. He wasn't even 4 words into it when I verbally slapped him down HARD pointing out that he had NO FRICKING RIGHT to ever say anything about Newt in that regard seeing as he pulled a Gingrich on me and mom.
He never mentioned it again. He died at 94 3 years ago. It still rankles.
