I don't have a strong opinion on the gun debate because I think it's a more futile argument than most others we have here. And I haven't said anything remotely like what you're saying.

I was driving around ohio last night on back country roads noticing all the trump signs...
I've seen a couple of bernie bumper stickers... but I haven't seen any hillary signs yet...
are they the 40% that usually never vote? are they really going to come out this year to the ballot box?
the suspense is killing me.

I have yet to see a Hillary sign in my neighborhood. I'm pretty sure we banned Hillary while clinging to our guns and religion !

No, but in my state Bernie beat Hillary by a landslide. I never would have thought of Hillary as a "silent majority" type, so how she beat Bernie when people won't even admit they support her is beyond me. I have this picture in my head of buses rounding up old people like cattle and dropping them off at voting stations.

Speaking of Sanders supporters, here's a Bloomberg poll:

It shows an inability on the part of Clinton to unify the base. She's only winning over 2.5x the amount of Bernie Sanders supporters as Donald freaking Trump. It wouldn't matter if Bernie Sanders was some nobody that didn't have a chance, but he was a strong candidate with a devoted fan base.

Sure. There's a lot of talk about how, after an absolutely abysmal few weeks in the race for Donald Trump, Clinton is only beating him by single digits. Thanks for pointing this out, it's really doing your argument a favor.

If you want to talk about who is doing a better job of unifying the base then its definitely Clinton. There is absolutely no unity anywhere in the GOP right now at any level, this is evidenced by the fact Trump is already low on money. Nobody is opening their checkbooks for him. And as a result, Clinton has opened up a good, early lead before either convention.

It's bad news for both of them in capacity of "who the hell is Johnson? How in the hell is he getting 18% of Bernies left overs??"
Would be fun to find out how much of that 18% would be Clinton's or Trumps' if Johnson wasn't splintering the rebounds.
