Yeah, he drove me nuts. I'm used to the U+ being at least a little bit difficult, but I had shell, protect, SG, full break, and 3 characters spamming medica-type heals... and I still couldn't keep people alive. Having practically no XIII synergy didn't help, but his insane damage output combined with his insane speed made for an unfairly unbalanced boss.

I brought the Lightning BSSB RW thinking that the interrupts would help keep him at bay for the second half of the fight, but nope. The interrupt rate is too low to be of much use and it basically just dropped my damage output instead. I essentially just dropped my usual strategy of strong defense + attrition and had to go nuts on damage to barely pull off a win. Screw that fight.

I will say Dismissal was pretty helpful proced on beginning of the fight long enough to get migration up without needing to use my RW medica till later in the battle.

Yeah, I probably should have thrown in a dismissal on Tyro or something. Typically my strategy is focused mainly on skills that keep my nice collection of soul breaks fed, but clearly that wasn't the way to go this time.

I had to use all my best SB to beat that guy, and i have a bunch of great SB.

Anyway, he dropped a Greater Black Orb. I dont know what drop rate, but interesting a 4* orb at the cost of 1 stamina.

Does your tyro have SG? Why not swap Edea for a whm and and have Tyro on full SG duty with Lifesiphon. Use Hand of the Emperor RW. I had a similar setup.

I gave tyro a gun to keep him back row to help with mitigation. He was able to to pull off 2 SGs and help finish with SLG.

yea, I have SG w/ Tyro. (and I have no good whm relics, hence defaulting tyro to whm position)

and edea was honestly my DPS. Swapping her out and my damage would have been ***.

My XIII synergy is almost nonexistent. Only noteworthy thing I have is hope's relic (throwing). So what I did was put it on Edea with Memento Mori (Darkness dmg; gives you doom and increases your magic). First hit did around 6k and after each one would do 8.5-9k. And I also had her with Dark Zone (after magic is amped up it'd do 14k (2hit attack 7k each))

w/o her I didn't have a chance. And all the other dds were multi purpose, so hard to replace them (like Agrias is dps/mitigation since I have cleansing strike. Balthier was dps and mitigation (steal power and i have his 10 hit SB, it would do about 17k dmg). Ramza was shout/breakdowns and tyro whm.

Trying to put in a whm while having both sg and shout in there would have been pretty hard to pull off.

Was really just lack of synergy and shitty RNG. For my melee set up I honestly need a couple more decent SBs. Hopefully BSB fest will oblige, as I have 300 mythril

I had two people with Dismissal, that seemed to help out a bit.

I want to try out Vaan's RM with Dismissal. The one that can make celerity trigger twice. Wonder how that would be for U/U+ fights.

I just gave up on Caius Ballad. His second phase is ridiculous. I had decent synergy too, plus native SG, Beatrix magic blink, medica, Fran atk/mag down, all the SB RMs, lifesiphons etc. etc. It is so tiring to S/L forever for a luck battle. Maybe I should just stop bothering with ulmitate+ battles all together...

What good relics are on it?

Garnet's Divine Guardian, Yuna's BSSB, tyro SG, both of Arc's relics which are nice.

Wouldn't classify Yuna's BSSB as "good" unless you're looking for an RW piece.

Considering they changednerfed our SSB Fest, I wouldn't bank on BSB Fest remaining as is until we have translation confirmation.

Unless the meta changes, I don't really have use for the hawkeye. I'd trade it back in for 25 mythril if I could, lol.

Hope is basically Rinoa v2.0 there are times we'll need to Mage or aoe burn bosses like the stooges.

I still use Mages on multiple enemy fights, like Bacon said. having the Parade SB for Edea makes it a little like shout meta! (except you know, not as powerful)

I have a lot of good Magic hones though...

So I mean... I got AoE magic covered... and having something like Parade and good synergy for mages makes it pretty viable/better than Shout meta for multi-target fights. (I have shout, too)

Even with having stuff like Yukikaze, Gekko(Darkmoon), Shift Break and Blade Beam and I'm sure some I'm forgetting I use Mages for Aoe fights simply because I have significantly better hones and it doesn't rely on SAM or a rather weak MNK ability

I like Tornado Strike and Sky Grinder for AoE, usually does the job for me. I have a lot of magic AoEs made and honed but find myself using them really rarely. Brought Terra to the Stooges just cause she has enormous synergy (almost 600MAG) and was my waifu prior to Celes destroying her place in my heart out of jealousy.

I have a Tornado Strike but its still rank 1, Sky grinder I blew up cause I dont use any DRGs ever. Tornado Strike has only gotten use on Tyro every so often for Wind weakness proc'ing. Just find it easier to use my Mage party since I still have all the hones from when using Mages was a thing to do.

Kinda feel like i wanna get use of all my neat mage SBs again :(, I miss my Rinoa set ups before I needed to bring Tyro and Ramza to everything.

it helps that I have Celes' SSB so I almost always bring a 5* spellblade everywhere I go, made honing Tornado Strike really easy. Never honed SkyGrinder though, it's still @2, gonna be waiting until either Dragonfire Dive or Thundercloud for that.
