Sholin @ BG found new strings in FFXImain.dll displaying four new zones:
Quote: 4 new zones total, Dynamis - Jeuno, Bastok, San d'Oria, and Windurst [D]
That's a nope. Hard pass on iDynamis.
Get ready for iAbyssea. iVoidwatch. SalvageV3 I'd honestly rather they just boost old content to iLVL and make it all relevant again than sit here waiting for a monthly square room with dumbass NMS in it. Problem is they'd also have to change other things like how lvl diff still exist there and revamp the whole AoE thing and then go back and modify the pseudo ilvl mobs they made to work around the fact lvl diff still exists there Balancing stats is piss easy compared to creating a worthwhile new content. They're sitting on decades worth of awesome, but outdated, content that they could rapidly revamp with stat tweaks. Good thing I talked about just stats right? Right? Seeing as all of those things are expressed via stats, yes you failed smart ***.

Seeing as all of those things are expressed via stats, yes you failed smart ***. The aoe patch and level correction are both presumably hardcoded in each zone server. This is why NMs like Tumult Curator are lv99 with artifically inflated stats. It's a quick fix, but it's not good to use when progressing with new content.. if you've ever done Tumult without smn, you will see all the enmity issues that arise as a result of the lower level.
They would have to either remove level correction/aoe adjustment from old zones, or add additional zones for each bit of rehashed content. Neither is as simple as tweaking stats.

Do we know they're actually 99 and it's not just blanket leel correction value of 0 applied to new areas/systems so that the level correction is null?
Also, even if they put more effort in than half-assing it and made heavy modifications to damage formulas, that still doesn't change the fact that all they have to do is modify enemy stats to end up with the desired results? Copy pasta their lvlcorrection/aoe solutions into the new areas and boost mob stats to levels comparable to relevant modern enemies, right?

we can tell based on how enmity works on them, for one.

Seeing as all of those things are expressed via stats, yes you failed smart ***. Except it's so much more than that but I'll spell it out for you because you clearly don't know. Even the "stat" things aren't a simple adjustment
Things that are different including already mentioned from ilvl areas. Level correction, AoE, agi and skill calcs. Yes you can adjust these all by stats or at least simulate similar which is how "ilvl" content in non ilvl zones but that involves individually adjusting each individual mob for each level. And lol at that being piss easy. There's reason they did zone wide changes to how the game calculates things instead. And if they go the route of adding in all those calculation change to those zones they then have to check how that applies to all the old stuff. There is a good reason they used a little used small battlefield like legion for ambuscade
Incidentally they'd probably actually have to take notice of and fix the vw bug

Do we know they're actually 99 and it's not just blanket leel correction value of 0 applied to new areas/systems so that the level correction is null? yes, widescan packet shows levels, and it's in an old area.. the entire point is that if you're using old zones, you have level correction and don't have aoe patch, they wouldn't have cheesed it with lv99 mobs if they could easily change the level correction value on a mob by mob basis
They likely can't create a new zone for every new content forever. If their systems were all well designed, theoretically they could make zone instances irrelevant(cost of 2 zones with 10 people each is unlikely to exceed cost of 1 zone with 20 people due to scaling), but from what we know they're far from that. Given they can make a new zone for every single bit of content they do, that is certainly possible.. but most would assume they can't do that.

My next question then: Aside from enmity, how is cheesing it with 99's functionally different than 139's etc in a system without level correction?
Could they not simply apply the lvl correction/aoe solution to the new zones they're creating?
Regardless of which rules are used, it doesn't change the fact it's still manipulating the numbers to approximate current game challenges. Doing so to make interesting old content relevant again is much, much easier than creating entirely new content that doesn't suck.

My next question then: Aside from enmity, how is cheesing it with 99's functionally different than 139's etc in a system without level correction? Enmity is the primary problem, but it probably also gives them some internal trouble depending on how they've classed monsters. It's a lot easier to say 'base stats for 139 + extra vit' than 'base stats for 99 + this much vit, this much str, etc'. Probably not a significant amount of trouble for a few mobs, though.
Could they not simply apply the lvl correction/aoe solution to the new zones they're creating? Yes, if they have the ability to create unlimited zones. A lot of content(salvage, einherjar, znm, vnm, limbus, probably among others) would be a lot easier to implement by using the existing zones/lobbies and adding a new instance. Adding an entirely new zone requires entry points/npcs/etc. It's all extra work, and they probably don't have a single dedicated software engineer on XI.
Regardless of which rules are used, it doesn't change the fact it's still manipulating the numbers to approximate current game challenges. Doing so to make interesting old content relevant again is much, much easier than creating entirely new content that doesn't suck. Agreed.

ow is cheesing it with 99's functionally different than 139's etc in a system without level correction because all the new zones don't apply level correction and have the AoE adjustments, but enmity is still based on the mob's level. So the mobs being level 99 make them worse than level 139s to fight since hate is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE on them and AoEs are more threatening, even if they had the same stats.
By clearlyamule 2017-10-12 22:22:44
Assuming you wanted decent sized content with a decent amount of mobs Easiest thing probably would just to make a reskin of an old that has ilvl applied. It's effectively just bringing old content up but leaving old content there and not having to manually adjust every little thing and well figuring out how to do so.... basically escha lol
Also don't forget the evasion and skill adjustments just for ilvl zones. You know they really overlook things when it comes to big changes like that... like was a good year after the introduction of ilvl and they were still making adjustments to account for the differences. Could definitely see them super stating based on their job formulas and then forgetting higher amounts of agi doesn't apply or remembering how they lowered meva but forgetting all the other little things lowering skill did.

Hi.
Dev tracker is a kind of feed in Official Forum that highlight (in the left side bar) posts from development team to players demands, questions and sugestion. Given that those answers are given by someone who effectively works with the deveopment of this game, they can be considered as official and true.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/forum.php
The japanese side of OF has its own dev tracker, that normally is way more active and detailed than english side. If someone feel like translating it to bring the info, feel welcomed too.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/search.php?searchid=15480698
BG site has one specific topic just to publish and discuss those official answers, and i think ffxiah lacks something similar as not everyone here check BG or OF, so lots of details/dev opinion are missed. So, thats the point of this topic, anyone who see new info in dev tracker feeds, quote it here, and start a discussion if you feel like.
Starting now, a couple of new dev posts were released after march update annoucement. Here they are:
Trust changes
Quote: [dev1261] Alter Ego Adjustments
It will be possible to summon alter egos in the following content.
Walk of Echoes
Wanted battles
It will be possible to summon alter egos in the following mission battlefields.
Wings of the Goddess missions
When Wills Collide / Maiden of the Dusk
It will be possible to summon alter egos for the following quest battlefields.
Wings of the Goddess quests
Champion of the Dawn / The Dawn Also Rises / A Forbidden Reunion
-----
Dev answer to a sugestion to add new ways to obtain dusk type of alluvion skirmish stone.
Quote: Since dusk-type stones were just implemented, we'd like players to do alluvion skirmishes to obtain them, so there are no plans to add the ability to trade other items for these stones at the moment.
However, we'll look into increasing the amount in circulation and the means of obtaining them in some way in a future version update.
Monster rearing news:
Quote: [dev1262] Mog Garden Adjustments
Monster Rearing will undergo the following adjustments.
A monster's mood will no longer degrade from "beaming with pure contentment" after collecting items or interacting with the monster.
The collective moods of all creatures will generate auras of light or darkness that affects them all.
Light
When the number of creatures beaming with pure contentment is greater than that succumbing to darkness, all creatures’ contentment and mood are increased.
Darkness
When the number of creatures succumbing to darkness is greater than that beaming with pure contentment, all monsters' contentment and mood are decreased.
The following information will be displayed when entering your Mog Garden.
The number of days left on assistants’ contracts.
The current affinity of the Mog Garden.
Mog garden gathering points will undergo the following adjustments.
It will be possible to scrap any unwanted flotsam directly without receiving it in cases where the player’s inventory is full or he is otherwise unable to recover it.
Sugestion about blu traits having aditional tier info.
Quote: This is something that is difficult for us to address at the moment as we would have to send data each time you open the menu to see which tier you currently have. We're concerned about this largely affecting UI response time.
Similarly the same holds true for saving the data client-side as well. Since all of the trait data for this would have to be saved, it would consume large amounts of memory, which also makes this feature difficult to implement.
