Hell, if I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere that job points even go to 3000 in the dats, and we've seen them add things (su3) into them as an edit even. Not sure about dats but before all the categories were even out I think and before you could take them to 20 they said each category would go to 30. Assuming the same progression of costs that would put capped at 4650. Of course they'd have to do some tweaking if they did that *cough manawall*

Byrth data mined the Job Points packets early on and the system allowed for up to 30 upgrades to each category (currently we've seen just 20) and allowed for much more categories than the 10 we're currently seeing.
I don't think SE will go back to updating Job Points though.
Allowing over 20 is a no-no because some categories would get way too powerful and would require balancement.
Adding more categories would be easier I guess (and welcome, especially for some jobs!) but that would imply more gifts etc, so I don't really see that happening.
Would be cool though, and would allow them to finally give useful tools to job like MNK who got only ***from JPs and arguably from Gifts as well (aside from the obvious passive stats increases)

Allowing over 20 is a no-no because some categories would get way too powerful and would require balancement. BLM needs another 10 points into Mana Wall.
Reduces damage you would have taken by 105% and applies it to your MP instead of HP.
Would it increase your MP 5% of what you should have taken as damage?!
That wouldn't be in any way broken.

I mean, most would settle on a 1:3 easily. 1:10 is just brutal by now.

It was sarcasm but yes 1:3 would be very welcome.
1:10 is painful, most people I know are sitting on dozens of useless cards waiting for some sort of updated exchange rate.

Why complain when all card farming group will basically take any jobs to farm card. If you want card for other jobs then farm it.

Because 10 to 1 is too extreme?
Because boss farm groups are more specific with job roles?
The problem is not the acquisition. The problem is the dozens of useless cards that rack up from doing Ou with specific jobs. Definitely first world problems but specific roles (tanks, healers, idris Geo, nirvana Smn etc) get stuck in those roles and the cards go to waste. With a 20hr lockout it's not nearly as flexible as "just join a card farm group."
By clearlyamule 2017-06-30 13:41:12
Don't forget all those random cards got from campaign that were not only really rare but unless you happened to get one for the job you want to use it with it's completely useless at current exchange rates.
Speaking of which another thing they should do is take away the same kind requirement.

The problem is not the acquisition. I dissent.
The problem is ALSO if not MAINLY card acquisition rate.
It's 2,5 cards (average) non normal runs, 3.5 on OU runs.
That's ~3 months to go 5/5 +3 on a single job.
Realistically it's more than that because we all are gonna miss some runs here and there, mess up one run, get particularly annoying objectives another run, and on some jobs it's simply harder to get objs done than with other jobs.
So yeah sorry but card acquisition rate is an issue.
It was super fine for a new event, but Omen will soon be one year old, and especially when a new event will be released, the current rate will be completely unacceptable, if you ask me.
I'm not against gating, not at all, but this is too much in the other direction.
They should've started with the current rates and made them slightly better around, dunno, last month if not earlier.
Just my two cents of course.

Oh and let's not forget something that never gets mentioned in here because the majority of us here has gazilions of gil/mules, but for a more "average" player it's also quite taxing with what sometimes becomes a 10 mils cost to get an item from +1 to +3
This has nothing to do with card acquisition rate and is actually good from other point of views, but when you add that to the 10:1 exchange rate and especially with the card acquisition rate, you get an overall scenario that can be pretty frustrating.
I'm surprised people aren't getting burned out already from Omen, considering for many of us there's hardly many other things to be doing in game atm.

That's because you use the same people on the same jobs using the same strategy on every single boss fight without mixing it up.

Any 10 cards or lower ratio to 1 not just all of same kind would help as well

Gifts I would love:
1. WAR
+2% JA Haste for every merit in Berserk
+1% WSDMG for every merit in Savagery
2.MNK (I'm biased, this used to be my favorite job)
+10 STP for every Martial Arts Trait
+15% crit dmg/ Crit hit rate + to Kick attacks for every kick attack trait
+10% WSDMG for every focus merit point
+5% Triple Attack for merit point in Dodge (lol)?
Enhanced Chi-Blast - Drains TP from enemy directly to MNK, Duration 90 seconds
Enhanced Mantra - duration 4 minutes, Adds -15% DT overcap!
Enhanced Boost - +25% WSDMG

you choose to do stuff with your closed 6 man group then have to take the bad with the good. So again stop crying about the ratio when you can easily invite a 7th so you can bring other jobs for card. OH wait nvm Ou must be double up stats each additional alliance player. This specific role is full of ***after update allow alliance in there.

Solution to the card issue is to just lower the exchange rate, which I assume they will implement in some form if the relic +2/3 use the same card upgrades as the base mat.
Even if the new event uses new mats and ditches the cards entirely, they have a habit of devaluing older content by making the grind easier , usually by lowering entry requirements so it's not out of the question card drops could increase in the future and or entry timers redone to allow for multiple runs daily without running out of tags.
But Ou is a choice and really, if groups are caring and not only gear driven, there would be times where card farming is done.

Hinted at in the June patch when they mentioned adjustments in prepartion for new content.
The WS adjustments and coming gear adjustments seems to be part of that.
It was implied in the wording that there were multiple adjustments and not just the small tweaks to WS debuff accuracy rolled out last month, so I was puzzled when some people expected the battle content to roll out this month. I assume there will be more coming until the content launches.
I wouldn't expect it until fall, late summer if we get lucky, but I feel like they'll keep adjusting stuff every month.
So keep the dream alive. SMN nerf soon.
Hi.
Dev tracker is a kind of feed in Official Forum that highlight (in the left side bar) posts from development team to players demands, questions and sugestion. Given that those answers are given by someone who effectively works with the deveopment of this game, they can be considered as official and true.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/forum.php
The japanese side of OF has its own dev tracker, that normally is way more active and detailed than english side. If someone feel like translating it to bring the info, feel welcomed too.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/search.php?searchid=15480698
BG site has one specific topic just to publish and discuss those official answers, and i think ffxiah lacks something similar as not everyone here check BG or OF, so lots of details/dev opinion are missed. So, thats the point of this topic, anyone who see new info in dev tracker feeds, quote it here, and start a discussion if you feel like.
Starting now, a couple of new dev posts were released after march update annoucement. Here they are:
Trust changes
Quote: [dev1261] Alter Ego Adjustments
It will be possible to summon alter egos in the following content.
Walk of Echoes
Wanted battles
It will be possible to summon alter egos in the following mission battlefields.
Wings of the Goddess missions
When Wills Collide / Maiden of the Dusk
It will be possible to summon alter egos for the following quest battlefields.
Wings of the Goddess quests
Champion of the Dawn / The Dawn Also Rises / A Forbidden Reunion
-----
Dev answer to a sugestion to add new ways to obtain dusk type of alluvion skirmish stone.
Quote: Since dusk-type stones were just implemented, we'd like players to do alluvion skirmishes to obtain them, so there are no plans to add the ability to trade other items for these stones at the moment.
However, we'll look into increasing the amount in circulation and the means of obtaining them in some way in a future version update.
Monster rearing news:
Quote: [dev1262] Mog Garden Adjustments
Monster Rearing will undergo the following adjustments.
A monster's mood will no longer degrade from "beaming with pure contentment" after collecting items or interacting with the monster.
The collective moods of all creatures will generate auras of light or darkness that affects them all.
Light
When the number of creatures beaming with pure contentment is greater than that succumbing to darkness, all creatures’ contentment and mood are increased.
Darkness
When the number of creatures succumbing to darkness is greater than that beaming with pure contentment, all monsters' contentment and mood are decreased.
The following information will be displayed when entering your Mog Garden.
The number of days left on assistants’ contracts.
The current affinity of the Mog Garden.
Mog garden gathering points will undergo the following adjustments.
It will be possible to scrap any unwanted flotsam directly without receiving it in cases where the player’s inventory is full or he is otherwise unable to recover it.
Sugestion about blu traits having aditional tier info.
Quote: This is something that is difficult for us to address at the moment as we would have to send data each time you open the menu to see which tier you currently have. We're concerned about this largely affecting UI response time.
Similarly the same holds true for saving the data client-side as well. Since all of the trait data for this would have to be saved, it would consume large amounts of memory, which also makes this feature difficult to implement.
