Since you two are so chummy, why don't you get together and wage your war against the police for killing random people for sport.

Keep us updated, but don't call me to bail you out of jail.

As for your second example, did you not see that the gun discharged, not the guy was shot? If you are going to make an example of every mistake everyone has ever made, as last I saw, SWAT was run by humans who make mistakes, then why not make an example out of you?

Wait, so now if it's an mistake/accident, it's kosher? Who had the gun drawn? Who was pointing the gun at said person, who was not a threat? Who is supposed to be trained in simple things like gun safety, and proper use of the safety on a weapon?

And who the hell keeps harping on about personal responsibility?

Gee, I don't know, maybe because she doesn't go around pointing guns at people?

Using closed-nit instead of close-knit, for example, isn't the same kind of mistake as shooting an unarmed, non-resisting, non-threatening person on the floor.

Not all mistakes are equal.

Do you think that mistakes is the same thing as intentional? Because that is the whole argument, isn't it?

I mean, if cops are going around shooting people randomly, as Kara is claiming that they are, then why bother using this obvious example of a mistake discharge?

Besides, I never said that the officer in question should get away with it, I'm sure that it was handled properly.

If you are going to harp at a mistake made by a person on the job, why not harp on all mistakes made by all people on the job? Or is that bad because it weakens a person's argument?

Besides, you fail to grasp at the point I was making, which is that Kara is demanding perfection from an imperfect being, which she is an imperfect being also.

Not killing the person laying down on the floor is not demanding perfection.

It is demanding basic compatence with a gun from a professional.

People who make mistakes on the job and have people die are held responsible. The medical profession immediately comes to mind

I think when your mistake ends a persons life...

It's not like oh I dropped the white out and ruined the office carpet... Oops I pointed my gun at the guy and now he's dead.

You also ignore the other two articles posted. One where the cops fired a hundred rounds into a car with two unarmed women and the other where a cop shot an unarmed guy 10 times (missed twice) who was looking for some help after he had had gotten into a car accident.

Not realizing a discharge and mistakenly concluded that it was intentional is your issue.

Tell us once and for all:

Was that death intentional?
If it was not intentional, why do you use it as an example of intentional killing?

Even that gets tricky, honestly. Look at medicine/malpractice. So many malpractice lawsuits, but how many are truly doctor error and how many are "M'am, your husband smoked 1.5 packs a day for 40 years. We couldn't save him from complete respiratory failure."

That's perfectly ok to some people, because the guy didn't die from a gunshot wound.

Clearly it's not perfectly okay, or the cost of malpractice insurance wouldn't be spiralling. @.@

It's not. Lol what a joke... Why do you think doctors get sued all the time for their errors and even go to jail in some cases of negligence.

You think a family member/friend/loved one dies under the knife and no questions are asked answers demanded? Think again.

The only difference between the two is that when they *** up and someone else pays the physical price for it the money is paid by the insurance carrier instead of the tax payers.

@ Ramyrez there is a significant difference between not being able to save someone and being negligent. If a guy goes in for a normal procedure and ends up dead... When they close people up and leave surgical tools inside people.

We tend to give both a degree of leeway because both are professions that are supposed to be looking out for us and for the most part they are a beneficial part of society but that doesn't mean we should give them a pass when they do stuff like this. They far more likely than a normal person in getting passes though. If you accidentally shot someone you think they'd just let you go?
