Unless the media can somehow portray him as being more unlike-able than the iron maiden, Hillary the scourge of Carpathia, the sorrow of Moldovia, Rodham Clinton. Which would take some sort of miracle.... because she was born with the debilitating condition of a complete lack of joie de vivre that makes wieners shrivel and babies cry when they are near her...

No. As much as some would like to think this country is moving towards a more tolerant and verdant future... the sad truth is presidential elections are a popularity contest. A quick look at the loosers of the last forever years shows they were simply less likable than their opponents. Romney, McCain, Kerry, Gore, Bush, Dukakis, Mondale, Carter, Ford, McGovern... etc, etc, etc,

they weren't bad people necessarily we just liked the other guy better.

Even nixon in all his hideousness rolled around on the ground with his dog checkers long enough to be seen as a likable guy... not as likable as kennedy, but certainly more likable than mcgovern or humphrey or wallace

We don't pick our presidents based on ability, but what we are shown by the media. I'm convinced that if they didn't do character assassination on Herman Cain, he would be our president right now. The media saw him as a threat right from the start and pretty much assassinated him.

getting the party nomination is different and shrouded in dark mystery and arcane voodoo practices. but the election is all about likability. that's why hildog didn't get the golden tap in 08, nobody likes her and they aint ever gunna.

Nobody likes hillary and the dems are going to feed her to the wolves in 2016 to get rid of her. It's going to look like they are really trying to get her elected... but thy are secretly going to help her loose so she can be pushed aside to end the clinton dynasty...

Character assassination.

When he started to become popular, the media threw together a story involving sexual harassment that never panned out. Nobody realized later that they were all lying, but who cared since the media did it's job and kept a contender for the oval office from achieving his goal.

Herman Cain and his 9-9-9 tax plan was not electible. I believe he even ran for the republican nomination previously as well and lost out to Bush Jr. as well as losing his bid for a senate seat. The guy never would have won.

Keep dreaming though.

He was gaining traction just as those accusations started flying. I'm 100% sure that if he wasn't gaining popularity, we would never have even heard of these "harassments."

There is a huge difference between getting the nomination and winning an election....

Herman never even made it into 2012 he got ZERO delegates

No. We already do know. He lost. Just like good ol' Mitt lost any chance he might of had with his 47% comment. It's all part of the election process and if you can't stand up to the scrutiny you can't win. I don't see you complaining about people trying to slander Obama by calling him a Muslim or saying that he wasn't even an American along with whatever else was being said.

Also, if he would have never gained popularity in the race he would never have had a chance anyways and wouldn't have been elected so he lost in either scenario.

Presidential race is an ugly beast. Hell, the republican party sniped eachother to the point that the dems barely had to do anything by the time the pubs picked their front runner.

Edit: and just to say it again. Hermain Cain was not electable. Period. It would never have happened even without the scandal.

Being in prison should be a requirement for the Democrats. Most of their voters can relate...
