Not like there's many noticeably better options =/
AG Idris MH is not even that bad for situations where you can set up AM3 before you engage or you have means to keep it up reasonably.
Of course being able to OH Idris and still get AM3 would be even better but we all know that will never happen :P
You prefer MH Tishtrya when you engage?
I mean thinking about it Idris with AM3 is likely BiS because of how little DA/TA/etc. GEO has access to, but aeonic for stronger Hexa's might be able to compete with it, depending on what context you were meleeing.
I completely agree. Difference would've been even bigger (favouring Aeonic) if the base damage on the latter would've been bigger, as it should tbh!
Personally I prefer AG Idris just because I'm insanely lazy and that allows me for incredibly simpler logic in my lua and how I handle MH swaps.
For someone less lazy than old Sechs I guess Idris with AM3 is probably BiS, and with AM down Tishtrya is probably BiS (because let's face it Idris with AM down is pretty ***, granted that the additional 27 skill might still mean something compared to other options)
Both rounds of Aeonic clears I've done, I have gone /BLM for stun on Zerde. I had no issues landing stun, but on the first cycle I did miss the last stun due to recast - luckily it died seconds later.
Currently my stun set is pieced together from my other sets, but I am curious where I can improve. I tend to be uneasy about sacrificing M.acc for more haste/FC in my stun midcast, but that is why I am asking.
ItemSet 352327
Merlinic slots are just my typical nuking pieces - no extra FC, just M.acc.
This is my current set. I know a huge improvement will be an ambuscade cape.
data tl;dr paragraph
gear haste cap is 256/1024 or 26% visible to be safe.
cap magic haste. 448/1024 (indi haste 29.9% dunna 5.5% or idris 11% + haste/II or a march) enough to get 44%
and 72 fast cast if I got that right...
1/2 FC goes towards recast. so (1-.25-.4375)*(1-(72/2))=0.2
Not sure how fast you need your recast, I suggest a stun rotation if your merlinic FC pieces have too little magic accuracy or 9s recast is too slow. ItemSet 329003
has 27% haste no issue swapping for merlinic body; just don't have to deal with one augment piece to hit max recast with that body.
65% FC including only Dunna & back piece FC augments. So only need 7% FC in merlinic augments between the two pieces to cap recast.
looks pretty up to date to me, anything Ambuscade you can assume to be +2 instead of +1. having said that, GEO has access to the Jhakri and Malliquis armor sets, the former only really used for Melee (with the body being nice for Auto-Refresh tics) and the latter of which is only really useful if you are in the line of fire; if you have any job other than what is on those sets, you are most likely going to have a better place to dump your Metals/Fibers.
the Ea set is generally considered inferior to Merlinic from what I have read for nuking(though 1: this is from a BLM perspective and 2: the cuffs might be better than NQ Amalric for Bursting, but then you are interfering with BLM damage). AF priority to +2/3 I would say Hands are pretty much the best piece in the set, followed with Legs for the M.Acc and Fast Cast. beyond that... meh.
tl/dr: gear for GEO has not dramatically changed so you can just use the front page gear.
AF+3 body is also great for idle, w/ refresh and high meva and is B.I.S. for Dark Magic. The feet are 18% movement plus high meva. Erra Pendant is top macc/dark magic neck piece now.
The SU3 Ea set you can skip if you have average to above-average Merlinic nuking augments. Same with the Jhakri +2 set with respect to nuking (it's still great for WS). Mallquis +2 set is a total skip, unless you need the body to hit the -DT cap.
Think that covers all the gear that's been released since OP was updated.
How does the AF+3 compare to other pieces for enfeebling? All BiS or nah? Im at work so idr my enfeeb set off the top of my head. But for example, how do the feet compare to skaoi boots? Skoai have less MND/INT/Macc but +17 skill on them?
Is there a Macc to enfeeb skill ratio that determines how much Macc beats a certain amount of skill + gear?

Possibly swap Kishar Ring in for one of the Stinky rings?
I'm a returning player and have been doing some research on this new GEO meta that seems even more idle based than before. To what extent do we need this super heavy Meva/-DT/Pet -DT/Pet Regen build? Is it so much that it's best I stop playing the game after bubbles and not risk getting caught in enfeebling/curing/aspiring even with capped precast? I havent seen these 145-150 NMs so I'm not sure if their TP moves/spells are too quick/spammy to react or if they're that bad that every Meva and Vit counts.
Now this is FFXI, so people are always taking whatever small victories they can find, but how much am I really losing out with no Meva Ambuscade cape, no Telchine legs and only 3-4 refresh? Should I sacrifice for more regen? I'm guessing my only goal is to keep BoG and EA bubbles as long as possible and there's less room or MP for me to do other things.
I'm trying to see if I can join Aeonic groups or linkshells with just a 900 Dunna and this set. I heard it was possible but probably need the DDs to pick up a lot of the "slack". Let me know now if I'll just be a lost just because I don't have Idris!
These are the two sets I'm aiming to create once I finish coalitions, and get idris. ItemSet 332721 ItemSet 328309
I find most NMs have either powerful physical AoE or magic AoE. usually not both.
Reason for pet:dt ear is I have enhancing duration+ on 5/6 pieces of telchine, final piece is pet dt; all 5 pieces used in geo idle have pet regen.
currently use sucellus instead. you can swap that with solstice as well.
For the questions ... not sure how much m.eva is good enough. I just stack a bunch. I generally /rdm so don't need to worry about MP since that is just a convert away. cast or idle? i generally idle, unless DDs are just taking far too much dmg or some other shenanigans going on.
Capes; what do you have on your cape? I only have 2 ambu capes: nuke cape & HP60/m.eva/pet:regen for idle/life cycle.
any suggestions? ... get idris. A naked 800 skill idris+bell geo is a better than a rival geo w/ every piece of gear -idris assuming he knows how to stay alive. :(
Front page updated with current gear as of the October update. I probably should have waited until the update next week but meh. Added a couple of new sets and updated almost every set (Didn't do melee/ws sets yet).
I'd recommend including a meva-based idle set in addition to the DT set in the OP. The DT hybrid set kind of alludes to it, but the caption should be a bit more explicit in terms of augments.
Should almost certainly be some Ea/+1 in those magic burst sets, as well. I also wouldn't really think of Jhakri Body+2 as a good idle, considering the amount of m.eva lost vs geomancy tunic+3.
Any tips for leveling up GEO skill? I'm massively behind and will hit 99 soon, Thanks.
1: skillup books
2: spam a geo-enfeeble at a lair reive from the edge of the reive (outside agro range). Tools like moogle, indi-refresh, convert and refresh gear help ensure you never have to rest.
How it actually works is, casting vs a non-player target uses a different formula to determine chance of skillup. Casting a buff on a lv119 trust gets the same check as casting a debuff on a lv119 monster. It's also great for skilling enhancing, healing, and the like for the same reason.
Nothing changed, been that way since long before trusts. The pros used besieged NPCs to skill enhancing/healing back at 75 cap.
Had some fun with that as a base; ItemSet 332721
Luopan-87.5%
PDT-50%
MDT-26%
*50% including minimum shell 5
Converts 16% of damage taken to MP
Converts 14% of damage taken to MP
Occasionally annuls physical damage taken +6%
Occasionally annuls magic damage taken +13%
galero because ... PDT is the only set I can work that thing into. (highest defense in slot, lol.)
And my hope for galero to get some use is gone again. merlinic/hagondes pdt-4 aug.
My Node section is messed up because of too much data usage and I am locked out of editing this guide. If you would like to reach out to Rooks to fix that problem like he said he would years ago when I asked him to fix it, feel free to do so. Until then, enjoy the half fixed guide I guess?
