Thanks. We actually used to use PHPBB back in the day, until we discovered it was full of security holes and seemingly every IP from mainland China was trying to exploit it to get our users' account creds. The quasi-"magical" nature of our information gathering mechanisms tends to make people paranoid about their account security when dealing with us, so we have to be extra crazy careful about protecting our users' info. We're held to a much higher standard than other FF11-related sites.
So we just rolled our own forum software from scratch. A lot of its security comes from its simplicity.

Yup. There are whole sites devoted to hacking PHPBB. On most unpatched installs it's easy via SQL injection to get dumps of every username/password registered for the forums, take over the site administration, or others.
If you're a site like us, where a lot of users (despite our BIG RED WARNING not to) use the same account creds for us as they do for their POL info, it's a huge problem. We can't trust a 3rd party to some day "get around" to fixing the problems.

Yeah, good point. Well good job on this site. PM's are a bit buggy but considering the amount of workt hat goes into a site like this you guys did an excellent job.
