The belt still hasn't arrived today. Hope it gets here before the MIL arrives tomorrow. The last time I will ever procrastinate on a gift that I'm overzealous about.
The one in my garage has a belt but it's like, solid. It looks like a round leather belt.

I have literally nothing for anyone this year. My wife and I agreed to exchange nothing this year due to house buying and she revealed she has *a* present for me and I'm borderline grumpy about that even because I really feel *** terrible about not getting anything for anyone even though no one cares and understands we're in the process of penny pinching for house buying and furnishing.

Besides, I normally gift fancy food anyhow and, as tasty as it is, I don't think anyone necessarily "hates" that they're not getting a 10,000-calorie fruit-and-chocolate-and-smoked-meat bomb this year. Sure they'll miss it and the thought of it, but...it is like 10,000 kcal of fat, sugar, and more fat.

...all that said I'm still considering whipping out the ol' plastic and doing a round of little presents at the mall tonight because it's literally driving me insane that I have nothing to give for Christmas.

Have you thought about restoring it? Does your family still use it? Do you know if it's still functional?

If you still have the drawers for either side they're worth more.

You can find the schematic online by using the serial number that is on the cast iron base by the belt spool.

She's sneaky and didn't let me know she had anything until a few hours ago, knowing full well I likely can't get anything shipped here by tomorrow and that we're both pretty *** hard to shop for in traditional stores.

I'm not going to go blow money on something just for the sake of getting her something, but if I can come up with something thoughtful I'll snag it.

Give her an IOU (something specific) in a card?

Or cook/bake/alcohol?

That one isn't even finished either.

Depending on the condition, it's not that costly to restore. Wood puddy/filler (if needed), wood conditioner, Minwax (any shade from maple to mahogany). You just need to be set for about three days without weather fluctuation.

This is a good one!

A gag gift that reflects and inside-joke between you two (just so she could have something to unwrap) goes a long way.

Decorative stuff for the new house, maybe?

It needs to be sanded, resprayed, restrained, and the drawers retacked. It's not in very bad shape but it has been in a garage that has flooded up to an inch or so, so the little rollers on the floor would probably need to be replaced. I can't remember but I thought they were wood.

Well that's sort of what we were planning on doing instead of gifts anyhow.

It's...weird. Bah. Shouldn't have mentioned it. We're a bizarre sort. It's really more not having anything for the rest of the family that's sort of nagging at me. Her getting anything for me just sort of emphasized it more for me.

If they're cast iron, a metric butt-ton of W-D 40 should do the trick. You're going to need it anyway to lube the interior of the machine itself.

Sand paper Grade-40 to 60, depending on when the last time it was that it was refinished.

I feel like I'm assigning you a project. LOL! It's relatively easy, though, if you were to do it.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.
Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

Leneth how would one say "I will quit" in german?

I screwed it all up with lame google translate yesterday.
Google gets 3 word sentences correct in 99% of the times, there is nothing wrong with that translation.

I wrapped them myself, cheaper that way and not hard to do.

Only missing preparation is the food for the 24ths evening, that I will start with tomorrow.
Ah, almost every store wraps them for you for free here. Creates long lines though.

What are making?
Germans have an issue with services. It has been getting better in the last 15 years but we are still far behind the rest of the world. The mentality is mainly still trapped in the old Post stations era, when everything was beige, postal worker sitting barely visible behind thick glass being unfriendly without direct human contact and defending their stamps, with waiting times like you would think that every postal worker was just trained for one kind of stamp.
When service is presented friendly and free it fails here. That were one of the reasons wal-mart retreated from Germany with a loss. Greetings at the door or packing service, no one wants that here. It's just way too suspicious for us when someone is smiling for no reason.

As for the direct issue with gift wrapping being free, that mostly goes against the ecological conscience of the majority that has been developed recently (Most shops reacted to that with providing no more free plastic bags for a better image). Just a few years ago shops tried to implement free wrapping, this year I only saw one book-store chain still doing that, rest was paid service not tied to a specific store. I only saw one person actually using that service.

As for the food question, a pasta salad. It has to be cooled for a day before it should be eaten. My family never did a major midday-dinner on 24th, instead we always have a big cold (except for the wieners-and wiener like sausages) buffet like evening dinner after the presents are handed out.

Morning all, I hope it finds you in the spirit, if not, get into the spirits.

I got 90% of my shopping done yesterday, & I think I'm going to shut this place down at noon.

That is some mighty fine restoration Z. Bravo.

I'll be damned. I typed that into google and it came back with my "I will end" or something to that effect, which is super vague and weird. If I'm going to bother learning a language, I want to at least have it right. so I may ask you again in the future.

One of my best friends was fortunate enough to work in your fine land twice in his twenties, and he's been working with me for the past year, so we've been bored on occasion and figured it'd be fun to have a second language.

For the record, I managed to get my wife a little something that would be completely inappropriate for most couples as a Christmas gift, which is part of the reason it's good for her and us.

so dropped about $30 on steam last night
so glad i am not buying family gifts, but one.
also ordered myself a cute d-- figure of amazon as well.

sister is flipping crazy for the past 2 days.
started mostly cause 2 days ago, she didn't like how mom gave her a message and told her to do something herself (xmas decoration)
then tried to hug me, and i told her to wait, cause i was putting the groceries we had just bought away.

so much QQ after that, and haven't seen her out of her room since.

not to sound like a jerk, but I do like the quietness this gave.

this morning, mom asked for suggestions for xmas dinner, steak and potatoes for me, some fish for her and dad, but she had no idea what to give my sister, cause, offcourse, she hasn't been available for the past 2 days, moody as ***, and wont eat any sort of meat-fish-bird or animal produced product (except cheese)
also very deep in this non gmo/organic stupid crap.
"here is a cup of water, enjoy your meal"
>"is this spring water?
".....suuuuuuuuurrreeeeeee let's goo with that"

so yah, not much of xmas spirit this year, glad it is almost over. looking forward to the late night family gathering, to just go hit the wine rack, and prolly pretend to be drunk as *** so people leave me alone.

what do i get for this xmas checkklist?

-something useless handmade with lots of feeling from said person, but mostly just to say they gave somenthing
-a shirt
-movie ticket 2~3
-some horrible cookie box or bad chocolate box from costco
-zelda tri heroes. should i wrap it up for myself?
-cute d-- figure to sit on my desk.

for once, glad I am at work today, even if just a bit.

TL;DR
BAH HUMBUG

MERRY BAH HUMBUG TO EVERYONE.

I just dropped $56.57, lol.

Mostly older FFs and other classics.

I can finally redo and finish FF IV: The After Years.

I had it on my PSP, but I never finished it, then I gave it away.

My collection now, just the essentials:
