Mmm. Difficult. Just of the 90s?

Can I count S&M? Because if so I'll go with that for a multitude of reasons, many of them nostalgic as much as musical, though No Leaf Clover is a great song done for that album.

If we're not counting S&M I'll assume we're also not counting Garage Inc.

Load > Reload > Black Album, I think, of original studio albums.

Of all Metallica albums I can't NOT put Puppets #1. Just can't.

I enjoyed Death Magnetic. I liked it before the final mix better. Metallica sort of had a bit of an incident because they did a Guitar Hero release of Death Magnetic that came out shortly before the album itself, and those of us who had it and heard the songs there heard the "not final album versions" of the songs.

The album mix was a lot flatter, a lot "noisier". The mix was just...blah. The Guitar Hero versions were actually superior because they were more dynamically mixed.

That "flatness" is standard in the music industry these days, and I hate it, and so do a lot of other people so...eh. What can I say? The boys are the boys, like them, love them, or want to make Lars eat a curb. They're not changing their minds for us or anyone else.

That said, I've got DM in in a playlist with most of the other Metallica I listen to. The only album I don't have most/all of on the list is St. Anger because...St. Anger just had problems.

Serious problems.

I'm not as versed as you in Metallica.

Most aren't. And most that are don't like them much anymore. I'm a fairly rare bird among metalheads.

I still remember when I went to their concert some years ago and Kirk started the first solo of Fade to black, I think I almost melted there on the ground. Such a great concert.

(though I'm still mad that they didn't play Welcome Home)

I mean does he really overuse the wah pedal that much.

One thing about many musicians is they always think they can find ways they can do it better no matter how much they like something in the first place, and they'll assuredly talk ***about it.
