That's the price of being susceptible to a pack mentality, people don't take your opinion seriously when you're in a pack.

It's much more revealing to talk to an individual and hear what they think on their own I find, you learn a lot more about them.

People that take me seriously should seek immediate medical attention at their nearest maximum security mental health facility!

I'm against deleting pretty much always(unless it's some kind of totallynotavirus link or something..)

Though requesting a lock I think it's fair if the conversation has drifted miles away from the original intent. It should be evaluated though of course, not be auto-accepted.

At least I think so.

I disagree and for example enjoy being able to edit my own thread titles as I add data

Always keeping my thread title accurate etc
You are more than welcome to disagree. There is a world of difference between editing a thread topic (in many cases simply locked to non-mods to prevent abuse), locking, and deleting. Arguably, one is maintenance while the other two are operational.

I wish I had a total number of reports I've gotten from within locked threads, but one day I had 21 reports stacked up from someone who read back and was offended by a thread that had been locked for three days. I really don't see how it matters if it's locked or nuked if it's going to be one of the two. I could assume you guys are concerned about post counts..which doesn't drop when a thread is nuked.

Some threads need to stay for the memories they bring back, and lulz (most important). Others that are so hate filled need to be nuked.

For myself, my ego is far more concerned with being able to see the posts I made, especially on the occasions that I want to reference them. Having them disappear is inconvenient.

Not inconvenient enough to really worry about, though. It's just an internet forum, not my Ph.D dissertation.

I don't care about post count, but if a worthwhile conversation has been had I think it shouldn't just disappear. Discussion often offers learning too, or simply opens new points of view you didn't consider before.
It's my opinion that it is always worth leaving it for others to read.

Frankly, I don't give a damn about my post count. But if you recieved 21 complaints from a single person on a locked thread, that truly seems to either be a relatively large problem with either the thread, or the person doing the reporting.

Probably the latter.

Ok maybe i'm missing something with post counts, but really who the hell cares about that?

It's more about this to me
Bahamut.Milamber said: »

Considering that even in P&R, some actual useful information is discussed or linked (even if it is rare), nuking a thread is just bad policy.

Or this

So, someone was upset by something that was already taken care of via being tossed in AH's blackhole days after the fact?

You volunteered for this?

2.) Why didn't the slaves simply run?

Oh good. Another decent thread nuked while I was out.
I'm not liking the deleting.

Locking, sounds great. Deleting, not a fan.

Almost makes it worthless to post
Bahamut.Milamber said: »
Honestly? There isn't really any great reason to delete a thread, except for duplicates. Someone doesn't want the thread anymore? Lock it.

Particular posts? Certainly, remove them if they don't abide by the general policy.

Considering that even in P&R, some actual useful information is discussed or linked (even if it is rare), nuking a thread is just bad policy.

It isn't the first time this has been pointed out.
and you wonder why I associate your guys posts with one anothers?

Should I associate your posts with Nik when you back to back post?

That was coincidence posting on our part so....
Please do.
