Yesterday I was thinking to myself, perhaps Mag (and others) would feel differently about the unions if he/they had grown up in car bomb city during the 70's...

on a somewhat related note... So Chicago... the cost for the pension fund here is over $18,000 for every man woman and child in the city... Which, by the way, is over double the next highest in the US (New York). Granted though that NYC has about 4 times the amount of people we do but still! plus the fund has been bankrupted like SS where they just keep dipping their greedy little paws in... There was also a city worker who was promoted for her last 3 months at a salary boost of $50k so she could get let go and receive a pension at that rate... I could go on for days... Here's a fun one... Basically the union reps were allowed to take a leave of absence from their jobs for the city to represent their unions and instead of the pension being calculated off of their income from the state it was based of their salary from the Union which was vastly higher... Same from the Trib Edit: They did just pass a pension reform recently which is being challanged by all the heavy hitting unions so we will see if it sticks...
