Like most linkshells, it can be pretty dead at times. Other times it's full of intense conversations about either rl, gear, goals, pokemon or anything else you want to contribute.
Cause it is in the OP.

Me too.

Speaking of gardening, we still need to pull up the old landscaping in the front yard. Ugh! There goes the weekend!

Gardening is never ending, I think. But it gives such nice rewards and being outside in the sun is fun :)

We need to get our seeds started this weekend for the veggie garden and try to chip our debris pile since it is super high.

House and garden work, never stops!

So true! I didn't even try to garden (except for the front) last Spring/Summer since I was preoccupied with an infant.

At the old house I had two peach trees, tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, blackberries, and peppers. Basically, the lower maintenance produce. My nephew loved it whenever I would watch him.

I've never tried seeding, usually I just take the lazy route and pick up the ready plants from year-to-year.

It's very relaxing!

Mmm fresh peaches, I miss those.

The couple we bought this house from were serious gardners so we have tons of bulb flowers that we just need to maintain and other ornamental plants.

We have 2 apple trees, a plum tree, 2 hazlenut trees, a cherry tree, a new fig tree (so not producing yet, it's going into the ground this weekend), raspberries, blueberries, and ground cover strawberries (pretty small but super sweet, largest is the size of a thumb).

Then we got overly ambitious and planted 12 tomatoe plants (too close together but it worked out ok), beets, carrots, pinto beans, squash, and 9 hot pepper plants. Oh and we had a horseradish plant from the previous owners. Horseradish leaves are tasty.

I bet your son will have fun outside along with your nephew :) So much to do and see (birds are always fun to watch). Do you put up hummingbird feeders? My grandmother loved her hummingbirds in TX.

No >.> We gutted and renovated the inside of the house. I'm good without having to do that in the garden.

Peaches, pears, and plums do well in this region. Hazelnuts and cherries! It's really rewarding to have something homegrown. Tomatoes, peppers, and squash are really resilient and have a good haul too.

I'm looking forward to his reaction to dirt. He enjoyed sand when we were at the beach. Hummingbirds seem really prolific in North and East Texas, they're a little sparse in Central Texas. We have a lot of rock doves. I didn't have feeders at the old house, but they were attracted to Carolina Jasmine and Lilac, so I would see them once in a while.

Since we can expect droughts and water restrictions every year, it kind of limits what vegetation we can have. Something out of the ordinary for the region may be a waste of money in the summer, unfortunately.

EDIT: I noticed some of my neighbors have orange trees, so I've been fiddling with that. I really want to try to grow avocados. That may be a toss-up though.
