I'm sitting with a wonderful hot water bottle on my neck and I think I'm going to watch Bones....or stencil the crib, can't decide. Serious nesting compulsions at the moment.

How are you?

Oh man! This will probably be the last bit of energy and creative bursts you'll have for three or four months. It's definitely god to capitalize on these feelings before she comes and you feel like a slug for a month or so.

That REM sleep deprivation. Even if you co-sleep, you still wake up feeling like your brain seeped out through your nostrils, mouth, and ears during the three hour periods of sleep you actually get.

Ouch, not good =/ Hope his pain reduces soon so that his high decibels will also decrease.

it sucks.

their screeching breaks your heart more than anything, & there isn't a whole hell of a lot you can do for pain. O well, it shall pass, I'm sure. ^.^b

Physically hurts a little when your muscles tense up.

Yeah, this should be an interesting experience :) Mil's parents are coming to stay with us for a few weeks, so that should help with some things. My garden will get planted, at least :)

My sister-in-law gave birth in December and she has yet to have a full nights sleep. It'll be like college finals....but with no definitive end date in sight! :p

That's good. Are his parents Danish or are they coming in from the states? Did you two meet while attending FSU? (I think it was FSU you mentioned.) You really do gain a new appreciation for your parents, and pretty much every familial bond. That's always good. You get a little time in for some personal reading when you're actually awake between feedings. The quiet time is nice.

Oh no! The six-week measure is finicky at best. Your poor sis. LOL! Probably the best way to describe it. "How do I manage everything and with such little TIME and sleep in the coming week to get the best results?"

We're both from the states. I've never gone to FSU. I mentioned Georgia Tech, but that is Mil's alma mater. I finished my BS in Denmark, and my masters here after maternity leave. Our meeting was odd and it was actually in Tallahassee but not at school :) We've been together for almost 15 years.

After listening to my sister-in-law, experiencing the lead-up to labor, and then reading about the insane feeding schedules for the next few months I have a great respect (and sadness) for women who go back to work after 6 weeks in the US.

Must have been someone else. That is awesome! Gauging from my cousins' curricula in Germany and Austria, it seems like undergrads in Europe are so much more intensive. Grats on both the impending Masters and the length!

It's rough. You could use your additional holiday/sick time, but there's always the scheduling for the check-ups and if there were a point at which he or she would get sick, what would you do? I'm a little envious of the girls I know who took the teaching route. They can schedule their births to where, not only could they use the rest of their holiday time, but have the entire summer to accommodate their babies. I was fiddling with tagging on my teachers certification for a while for that reason.

I wish we would adopt the European/Canadian standard for maternity leave!

Up to 52 weeks, 4 prior to birth (mother), 2 after birth (father), 14 after birth (mother), 32 to split between mother and father.
It is a mixture of full salary, reduced salary, further reduced salary, and unpaid, depending on how it is distributed. If the baby is early, the weeks prior to birth are annulled at that point.

We have a guest house.....and some greenhouses. But the beds are all taken in the main house ; ;

Oh oh! You could put up a tent near the apple trees, maybe.

No, don't think that will work right now. Denmark is very wet for the next few months.
