I probably need to know more about construction projects than I do... but it seems like one of the most innefecient professions... nothing ever seems to get done on time... everything always seems to run over the bid... and it's just so damn inconvenient until its done lol...
weeeeelllllll sir. I can tell you a little. a lot of it stems from owners/engineers unrealistic completion times, & chicken-***general contractors who won't say "no, x is not possible, it can be done in y"
but even that isn't all of the problem, as I'm sure Zah will tell you, some GC (general contractor) will tell the owner/architect that something can be done in a certain amount of time, then "O ***, it looks like thats 15' of rock and not 15' of dirt, instead of a month, it's gonna be a year & a half" O.o
I guess the main point is, the work is never easy, & rarely goes the way it's supposed to. compound that with general stupidity & the potential to make or lose money, & it becomes a living, breathing monster that just runs its course & you'll be damned lucky to get away with your ***.
that about some it up from the architects side as well zah?
lmao
Pretty much. Basically, it's always a back and forth and back and forth among every party involved. Alterations and the approval of alterations (/shudders) among ARCHs, Engineers, and GCs can back up projects, or just become an all out cluster-***. It's nice when communication among everyone is flows fluidly, but there's always someone (sub or GC drama mostly) who *** up then passes blame, leaving the rest of us banging our heads. You wouldn't believe how many addenda can be added!
Something as simplistic as HVAC needing to be put elsewhere needs approval from each party involved. It's annoying when you assume the simplicity of symmetry as far as the aesthetics won't be ousted, but when it's necessary it has to be done (and will piss me off accordingly).
Basically, it's just like a bureaucracy in itself. Don't get me started on state jobs and HUBs!

If I *** something up, I'll be the first to admit it. It's money man... though I have seen people take a hit to preserve a business relationship... it's more than money. I will have to do business around here for another 50 years or so. I will have a much easier time when people know I hold the value of truth above money. how bad do you want to work with someone you know will *** you over for 5$? With the way my room is organized, I doubt I can put a treadmill facing the way of my TV (not enough width space, maybe)
My room is too cramped for me lol It's mostly my Full size bed that takes up too much space. I want a new bed but I plan on going to Japan next year and I doubt I would want to spend money on an extra bed for a year =(

kind of my point though. you'll do better with a honorable methodology than the latter, wheather you measure that by money made, or your reputation as a reliable, honest businessman. I think we're on the same page here.

I'm talking millions though... and like I've said I've seen some take the fall to preserve the relationship... I work with contracts ranging from $500 to 6.5 million, just for instance, this year. again, it's not all about the $$$ It is though... I mean even if you talk in terms of relationships... you keep those relationships because they bring in cashflow... you take the hit to keep that relationship alive... what's losing a mil when they give you 2.5... business is business... touche' kind of my point though. you'll do better with a honorable methodology than the latter, wheather you measure that by money made, or your reputation as a reliable, honest businessman. I think we're on the same page here. although, you make it hard to tell sometimes flav. hehehe We have two GCs and one MECHC that have been very reliable. We continually work with them, and pray that they win bids on our projects. They're solid! I have a couple mech engineers that will call me, mad, if I'm too high on a bid. saying "now I have to work with company x, damn you chris, you couldn't have done it cheaper?" lolnope Part of my point right there... The guy wants to do business with you but won't because of the price... even if you provide better business...

I probably need to know more about construction projects than I do... but it seems like one of the most innefecient professions... nothing ever seems to get done on time... everything always seems to run over the bid... and it's just so damn inconvenient until its done lol... weeeeelllllll sir. I can tell you a little. a lot of it stems from owners/engineers unrealistic completion times, & chicken-***general contractors who won't say "no, x is not possible, it can be done in y" but even that isn't all of the problem, as I'm sure Zah will tell you, some GC (general contractor) will tell the owner/architect that something can be done in a certain amount of time, then "O ***, it looks like thats 15' of rock and not 15' of dirt, instead of a month, it's gonna be a year & a half" O.o I guess the main point is, the work is never easy, & rarely goes the way it's supposed to. compound that with general stupidity & the potential to make or lose money, & it becomes a living, breathing monster that just runs its course & you'll be damned lucky to get away with your ***. that about some it up from the architects side as well zah? lmao lol... I think we're on the same page here. although, you make it hard to tell sometimes flav. hehehe Yeah I probably don't express myself well enough at times lol... There's a lot of things that come to mind too that I really can't talk about either lol... I'd like to think everyone does business honorably... but in reality it's mostly about the money... There are still some out there though... The other disconnect I think is that I deal a lot more with carriers rather than the businesses themselves...
not to mention by the time anything makes it to arbitration, it's wholly out of my hands & into the lawyers. a world that I can't even feign any knowledge of.

Since we all can't be on the same linkshell in game, this can be our cross server linkshell thread.
Like most linkshells, it can be pretty dead at times. Other times it's full of intense conversations about either rl, gear, goals, pokemon or anything else you want to contribute.
We can cover any sort of topic at all, within reason of the forum rules. No real main topic, just a bunch of FFXIAH friends/people coming on and discussing random things.

Update: Sorry Eternaltriumph, too much has changed D: (Page 698)
Eternaltriumph said: Yeah Chuu. Bringing you up to speed, Ludoggy is the LS pedophile. I'm the fountain of random and useless knowledge that makes you go "Hrm" with the occasional side of "holy shit he said what?"
Kungfu is the LS nutjob, spouting super random things that are usually sexist, until Savvy or Alyria comes into the room. Then he's a classic case of sexual harrassment. Rumaha is also true to the second part; we're wondering about his sexuality though.
Daj is Ludoggy's gay lover. Not much else is known about this Asuran. Tairo is kinda new, but since is a female and Alyria's lesbian lover, she fit right in real quick.
Celene(F) and Rowland(M) are more of the shyer members, but often say things that are witty, have a good pun and sometimes cause three page discussions. Celene hates when people hit on her. It doesn't stop them from trying.
Krizz is just social and likes to kill time here during work Tbest is about the same, except tends to be a douche to guys and affectionate toward girls.
Alyria is the most social female, gets groped a lot without provoking it by others, and Tairo ends up stabbing people for it. Cai is just a barrel of lols, I might be gay for him. If I wasn't straight.
Not sure about Citag, s/he's new. Kiriyu is just an in-out kinda person. Says one thing every three days that every guy makes a big fuss over. Ludoggy gets really defensive since she's asian and underage (might be 18 now).
Artem is the wayward soul that makes you ponder the meaning of life by constantly reminding us life can suck. But he deals, and so do we. About the same for Savannah, except people are more "AWH!" to her because of a vagina involved.
Dasva is the ex military man (as is Krizz but this doesn't apply to him) who hates the world and plots a way to destroy most of it.
Number2 is kinda like a mix between Cai and I; never bashes, likes to laugh and has odd avatars. His current suits a lot of the convos this LS gets into. Barti is most well known for his moustache. He gives mousatche rides for a fee. I'm missing a few people but whatever. CARRY ON!
Luelle Smells.
