Bam. The lid on that one:

He's not saying anything different because we are doing what we are supposed to be doing.

Obama keeps going back to the homefront, which is a very important issue of course, but I can't help the feeling that he's trying to deflect some of the topic.

Well really, hes right though. How are we suppose to tell the rest of the world that our way is the right way, if we are having our own problems?

He was referring to foreign policy and diplomacy around the world.

China doesn't apply.

I don't think either guy wants to seriously talk about foreign policy since it affords little opportunity to score political points compared to domestic issues.

Ah I see. I misinterpreted that because I thought he was basically saying that we were essentially the Alpha/Omega of the world.

Exactly what I'm thinking.. both of them wants to "win" the debate and they just can't antagonize the other without bringing up the same old points.

Seems like Romney is trying harder to talk about domestic issues than Obama since he seems to be just agreeing with what Obama is doing with foreign policy.

There's probably some obligation to shoehorn discussion of foreign policy into these debates even though it's not really a point of contention this election cycle.
