Why Do People Play FF When Drunk....and Feel The Need To Tell People They Are Drunk?

I'm funny without alcohol...

I don't really play while drunk, as I've pretty much given up alcohol completely. However, I have played stoned off my *** before. I don't usually say anything to anyone about it, except for a few select friends, that also enjoy such things from time to time.

Doesn't really effect my playing ability much, in as much as no one really ever notices unless I point it out. Except for my trusty THF friend. He can always tell because me and him get pretty *** stupid together lol (stupid conversation, not stupid not playing right)

Bragging about it and being all like "OMG IM LIEK SO DRUNK RIGHT NOW LOLOLOLOL" is stupid. If you're to the point where you're shouting it through party chat, chances are everyone already knows...

I'm more or less the same drunk... but louder and a bit less coordinated. I think a large portion of people are already stupid... alcohol just makes them less afriad to show everyone just how dumb they are :)

I guess it depends on how it's announced. It can be either a friendly and casual yet slightly informative bit of information, or it can be obnoxious and irritating.

I'm guilty of combining personality lubricant with FFXI but would never do so for a critical moment in game such as a make or break HNM or BCNM or whatever; as I would be irritated too if it were lost to someone's lack of being sober and using proper judgment and skill.

All in all, it doesn't matter much as long as they're not annoying or being a *** about it or intentionally being stupid. However, sadly, I have run into a few parties before where one felt obligated to announce they were snorting coke as we exped. I would never tolerate that and disbanded immediately.

Placebo. People aren't as drunk as they could be. By announcing it they make the the idea become more true.

Reminds me of high school on Mondays when everyone would brag about how they were "sooooooo blazed/drunk/gone/high/toasted/sloshed" over the weekend. lol

Generally speaking by the time someone tells you there drunk you already know if they really are or not...

Yeah, dumb...TBH I never understood the point of getting so trashed you couldn't function, anyways. Not that I haven't gotten that drunk before, I have, but after a few times where I literally lost hours of my life to some alcohol induced black hole, that was enough for me.

Honestly, that's why I prefer pot. You don't black out, can't ever get "pot poisoning" and end up in the ER, and don't feel like complete ***the next day. Not that I do that much anymore, either...gotta find a job and be a good boy.

As #2 said, it's counter productive and downright stupid to get to the point where you have no degree of function or control. I'm happy just buzzed and I keep it that way when I feel the need~

Same, mostly I have a few beers or a Jack and Coke and stop there. I don't like losing my alertness, usually, plus it's just empty calories being packed on.

You know, I'm sure everyone has their opinions, and that's fine, really!

There is no need to come down on ppl who like to have a few to feel calm and socialize, maybe it helps some ppl as there are the shy type, and not social butterflies like the ppl who do not drink. I'm being clear on this because I too can enjoy a drink here or there, but that is b.c I am the age to do so.

There is absolutley no reason to come down on ppl who drink, yes maybe they say have a reason to drink, but if it doesnt' appear to have any effect on gaming statics or missions, then hey all the best and power to ya, but if it does, and you are clearly not the one who is drinking, then do what you must.

I have had a better time, and I have unwound after coming home from work, and enjoying a cold one while playing... if this seems to bother you non alcohlic believers, then go do whatever, and don't flame the ppl who drink.

I shake my head at things like this, b.c this is just a social way of relaxing to some ppl and if this helps them then fine. I go for the taste, not for the feeling.. so getting drunk, I don't guzzle a "2-4", I may also sip a glass of wine here or there as well.

I just say drink in moderation, have fun and enjoy! If it doesn;t effect what your doing in game, then congradulations. No need to be incoherent and make yourself look like an idiot. Then you'd be drinking and gaming and if you get aggrod, not my fault.

Depends on the situation... sometimes multiple bliz3s is doing there job. And face it most people fail at this game when there drunk especially a complicated job like rdm

"Doing their job" is the operative phrase there. Honestly, I could care less if they're getting ***, shooting up, or doing coke off of hookers while they play, as long as they're on top of their game...
