I'm not sure here but I haven't seen the question asked. To save money leveling the new subs, is it possible to find a recipe for a sub I'm trying to skillup like goldsmithing and fail it repeatedly? Can you get skillups this way for other crafts?

no, you cant do this. i think it used to be possible. but not now. if any of the synergy recipe crafts/subcrafts are below the level requirement, it will not let you perform the synergy.
