I'm guessing tessera saio over charis body in that set.

Yeah, Tessera would be better. Use Furin Obi if you have Windstorm or it's Windsday.

Thaumas is worse than Chimera Hairpin. Also, the MAtk Thokcha is worse.

If you have COR and don't have Tessera, your QD Mirke works for AE too and should be better than Charis Body.

One tp bonus dagger + smiting blow +100 tp =300tp.... and it opens a slot for 11 more magic attack... combined with hells guardian and/or ultimate...

I use two Icesoul rings, not sure if maybe Thundersouls would be better or if there's much of a difference at all. I have had terrible luck with those augmented rings too, the only one I ever saw was accidentally NPC'd with the rest of the junk ones after a long night of box farming.

To answer your question, yeah, DNC is actually a pretty strong solo-cleaver in Abyssea. 2k is not at all unattainable for Aeolian Edge.

It's not going to impress you that much if you're used to Fell Cleave or Charged Whisker, but DNC is a not-spectacularly-distant third and is at least a little more independent than WAR for this.

I made a Centovente and i'm working on another +100TP dagger which is about halfway done so far. So far i'm really happy with making this dagger, its a great toy to cleave frogs or other things when trying to cap parry since the update.

It looks like I might as well stop progressing on the 2nd dagger after trial 2305 since you cant have 2 Centovente, but stopping at a Fusetto+2 on the 2nd one gives you +100TP on a second dagger. For some reason the final dagger on this path still has a rare tag on it /sigh

Necro bump! Sorry!

What would an optimal AE set look like nowadays? I am going back into abyssea to farm KI for my twatsmasher. Thoughts?

I'm looking into farming other pop items for other empy's. Thank you

As aeolian edge is elemental, so benefit from magic boost, I would bet in:

Main: Vanir Knife
Offhand: TP bonus magian knife?
Ammo: Dosis tathlum
Neck: Stocheion medal
Ear: Crematio, Novio or moonshade with TP bonus
Ring: Demon Ring MAB+3 x2
Back: Toro cape
Legs: Iuitl Tights +1
Feet: Qaaxo leggings with MAB augment
Head: Umbani cap
Body: ?
Waist: ?

An alternative to umbani cap is wayfarer circlet, which is a lot easier to get. wayfarer robe should beat tessera saio for body, and for waist I think someone mentioned using an Obi and getting someone to cast Windstorm on you.

And to answer my own question that I edited out, magic damage does seem to affect Aeolian Edge, Drayco made a post on vanir knife about a test with it. Cool!

Seekers gave us some nice mab options that you can easily snag off the AH (toro cape/friomisi earring) or get with bayld (shneddick tights). Also wayfarer set has a couple ilevel pieces with mab and dex/int piled on them for some entry level options.

Theres enough stat inflation on head/body/leg/hand/feet armor that relic/af reforged will also feed the dex/int modifiers a decent amount, but you also want +mab, especially in your accessory slots.

Ideally for some serious long term cleaving you want a tp bonus dagger (because the fTP goes is 2.75/3.5/4 for 100/200/300tp) and appropriate wind/mab atma.

Its very easy to finetune AE sets since the damage you deal is very stable, so you can swap a gearpiece for another if you arent sure which to use, and see the difference easily if you ws at the same tp amount.

I havent cleaved in awhile, but this is the set i'd make based on all the latest gear I own at the moment.
I have both a +100tp and +10%wsd magian dagger for this.

Qaaxo Leggings C-path are better than Horos feet +1 (MAB+15).

Would be pretty hardcore though, to spend 6 mils on airlixirs to add 50damage to an AE set.

But you're right, they are better.

Can also use the feet for wildfire.

And actually, as you need 7 airlixir+2 to cap, you actually would need 13,6m. Or 700k plasm. Or 4~5 tojil wins supose you win the lots for +2.
