Before the Rangers started going balls to the wall all you could get here were craptacular Astros games, and a Ranger game once in a blue moon. Glad that Nolan Ryan made switched the Astros' former farm team in Round Rock to the Rangers'.

Nolan is a good guy. Glad to know him personally. One of the few people that fame and money hasn't change who he was.

You know Nolan Ryan?!? OMG!!! You think you can use your connections so I can meet Ian Kinsler? LOL!
I apologize for changing the subject ahead of time...

I apologize for changing the subject ahead of time... It could more than likely be arranged. I also work with a guy who is family with Bob Simpson...
Between the two of us, I could get you 1 meet with pretty much anyone you wanted. My connection: My cousin went to TCU when Reed went and Nolan was coaching. He went on to play AA ball. We're both pitchers. My cousin actually dated Wendy for some time. We used to hunt on the ranch and go to dinner with them in Ft. Worth and Weatherford etc.

18% would be a fair increase.
Your $99 a month cable bundle in 2005 should now cost you $116.92 a month.

Most cord cutting communities go heavily to online tv / streaming / rental services.
Stuff like Roku is taking off lately, too.

What does your inflation calc have to say about the 300% inflation on fuel?

That's a fun slice of family! Good stuff! Have you ever heard any stories about Ryan wailing on Ventura on the mound? LOL!
Jokes though. I know Kins is married now. I just thought that he was rather adorable when he "stepped on to the plate" with the Rangers when I was twenty/twenty-one-ish.

I think everyone brings up the Ventura deal the first time they really get to sit down with him. At first, he wasn't big on talking about it, but now the two are infamous for it. I think it's water under the bridge at this point. Texas boy put a whoopin' on him though....
Meeting Ian and trying to home wreck are two completely different things. Just get that "What Lies Beneath" glint out of your eyes if you run into him. ; )

Cut the cord a few months ago and bought a 10$ antenna. Local channels are HD and major sports events are on it. Using Amazon prime and Hulu plus on the xbox. Glad to get rid of that bill, I hardly watch TV to begin with.

That's what we do, too. A little box doohicky in the window gets us local channels, and Amazon prime gets us most movies that we'd like. We don't have Hulu though, oh well.
You are so brave, Zah! I would never want to meet a famous person. I would be all "OMG Emma Watson! You are gorgeous and the best actress ever and I loved your portrayal of Hermione Granger!" And she'd be all "Yeah thanks whatever, every person I've ever met tells me that exact thing word-for-word. Are you crazy fans actually robots mass-produced in Japan or something?" And it would be just so embarrassing.

LOL! Honestly, it would probably seems as though I would have a mild form of tourettes or the mentality of a thirteen-year-old girl.

Ugh! I have to really reevaluate whether I want kids or not now. Is it like a Montessori program (well, not sure when they would start that), a church associated program, or is this what people should expect across the board?
Daycare costs blow... It's like another mortgage...
On top of student loans, on top of homeowner's/auto/medical/life insurance, gas, etc., so on and so forth...

I have no student loans to pay off!
My family avoided the whole daycare thing... my mom took off work until we were all in school then went back to teaching which she was at work for as long as we were in school...

So jealous of my friends who teach. Copious amounts of time to do whatever. I think I might just say, "*** it!", eventually and get my teacher's cert. Supposedly, it doesn't take too long.

Daycare is almost 5x my college tuition. Although, it was public and relatively cheaper than most universities. I paid for it myself. I'm sure the price has gone up since I left.

Your daycare is about the cost of a state school with no scholarships, including room and board. Little Tyke's going to college, but it's like paying for a meal plan, room, and board twice.
Perspective. Maybe kids are a bad idea.

I dont really understand the concept of being star struck, we're all just the same people. I do.. But not over celebrities (at least used in the sense most people mean, movie stars/singers/etc) really.
I'd love to meet this guy: He (and others, he's just an example) would be the closest to being star struck I'd really get.. If I knew I was going to meet him, I would actually sit there and think about what I wanted to ask/say to him, and if we just randomly bumped into each other I'd probably go stupid and say "Hi" and walk off or something, and then kick myself for the rest of my life for being such an idiot. Basically someone who has actually contributed to the world.
And I'd absolutely love to party with this guy, (but wouldn't be star struck or anything):

So, media giant Viacom and DirecTV are having a huge pissing contest because DirecTV seems insistent on changing Viacom's practice of "all or nothing" with regard to their channels.
Viacom, and other media giants for that matter, want cable companies to have all their channels bundled together rather than the companies choosing which they want. The cable companies are bitching that they are already paying millions as it is and would rather divvy it up by what they would prefer to carry.
The end-state of this pissing match is that last night, 10 July 2012 at midnight, DirecTV blackout all Viacom channels. 26 in total.
This is crap as I, the consumer, get boned (big Spike TV and CC fan), and the kiddies get screwed out of Nick (big Dora and Power Rangers fans).
The 26 channels include the MTV Network (7 channels), Nickelodeon (5 channels), CMT (3 channels), VH1 (3 channels), BET (4 channels), and also TV Land, Spike TV, Logo, TMF, VIVA, Palladia, and the biggest sin of them all, Comedy Central.
I personally see them dropping channels as a breach of the service contract and will be changing cable companies. Who out there on DirecTV agrees?
