I hate Capra Demon ;; lv28 and still giving me problems (PS3)
Gold Pine Resin and surviving the first ~30 seconds of that fight is all the advice that I can give. You have to take out the dogs ASAP. After that the Capra Demon himself is pretty easy, just run him up the steps, drop, repeat, hitting him when you can.
*pray* and if you didn't die while the screen is loading run to the left and up the stairs immediately! begin running before the screen loads.
Just started playing tonight, only in the first zone after the tutorial thing at that graveyard with all the skeletons... was fighting them for like an hour using a sword, getting souls and practicing parrying. ... then I found the mace and accidentally the entire graveyard. I don't think I was supposed to be here yet
I didn't explore that graveyard til the end of the game..somehow I like..missed it..like I knew there were skeletons but I never went past that first giant skeleton. It was one of the last things I had to do (the grave tombs and the giant tomby place) and I hax'd my level and everything by that point and I still died every 5 seconds. I think it was worse than blighttown. No good memories were had.
MY very first play through, i walked over to the graveyard... managed to find the catacombs while i was at it.... as you can imagine that went over well lol..
To be honest, from what I've heard about the game before I played it I thought it was suppose to be incredibly difficult. So I naturally felt that it was appropriate.
Near the end though before the catacombs I felt I was in the wrong area but I just wanted to keep pushing forward.

After fighting (and beating) the first boss with the broken sword you get, i made the same conclusion.

If you are on 360, I can help you. That goes to anybody in this thread. If you need help just message me on Xbox Live or here.

Damn, I hear GFWL is kinda rough =/ Is the sword called Astora's Straightsword? It is a shame, though, because the PC version is dead aside from the PC fight clubs that BarneezyJones hosts =/ not very many people play it. Luckily you have Jos on there so you should be fine :P
killing that Havel guy before the Taurus boss was probably one of my most satisfying gaming experiences ever... thing took ages to get down :\ one missed parry and I usually died

GFWL is my least favorite PC DRM/distribution/overlay service of all time, and I doubt it will ever be topped. It'd be really cool if it let me play with people on XBOX, but it's only a buggy, resource hoggy, piece of ***Steam as it stands.
Yeah it's Astora's Straightsword
Is the community not being around a big problem if all I care about is PvE? Really don't intend on bothering much with PvP in here. I got one shotted by someone the first time I turned into a human to kindle my flask and got turned off. I've been seeing tons of those hint things laying around and whatnot
Also sort of derped and watched someone's videos of the beginning parts of the game that I played, only missed one "secret", that was shooting off the dragon's tail for the OP sword. Don't think I'll bother going back for it, I don't want to make my first character too OP
Might do it then, I also didn't consider that using it would require me to drop my shield (which I sort of rely on at the moment, I still suck at parrying), so I'm sort of paying the price.
Having people to be able to help you with some of the later bosses can be very beneficial. The PvP lengthens the experience greatly when you begin to understand the game mechanics, and the PvP scene is really fleshed out. You can generally circumvent the lack of community if you decide to join the Twitch.tv community since a lot of people who watch the Dark Souls streams on there have the game for multiple systems. There's a small community forming on here too, so that certainly helps. I can honestly say that some of my most satisfying experiences have been defeating invaders right before a boss, then defeating the boss.
Does it honestly take away from the experience? Hard to say, the game is outrageously rewarding just from PvE alone, so I'd say no. Still, the PvP aspect is an entirely different and gratifying section of the game. I do recommend it if you end up enjoying the PvE a great deal and want to expand a bit. The Dark Souls community is generally awesome.
want to note also that I have no idea how anyone could play this thing with Mouse + Keyboard. I tried for 3 minutes before plugging in my controller :|
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN IN. You are allowed to make anonymous edits. Please be respectful and only edit the workbook if you intend to add yourself to the list. This is not a universal member name > gamertag list for entire site. Only list your name if you own Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls I, Dark Souls II, or Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, or plan to, this way members of the site can coordinate playing together, matchmaking, etc.
After you click the link, the only thing you'll need to do is click "EDIT IN BROWSER", then add your FORUM name, then the gamertag/username for the platform you play the game on. Please do not copy and paste a cell, this will cause borders to look weird and I'll have to open it up to fix it.
This thread was created, by request, to promote discussion of Dark Souls. I'll be updating the OP with various resources, video links, upcoming news, character builds, PvP matching, and so on as users post.
