Fraps compresses while you record no matter what, if I remember correctly. MSI Afterburner gives you the choice. For people with "meh" CPUs but who want the absolute best quality, you don't want to compress and record at the same time. You'll get FPS drops. I record at the native resolution, 1080p, then compress with Handbrake afterwards.
FRAPs is great for on the go recording if you have a fast hard drive with lots of open space as it doesn't require any setup and does not compress footage at all, but DXtory is superior if you've got the time to sit and play with settings for 20 mins or so. Can have it compress files down while losing almost no quality (youtube crushes things down and bleeds out quality regardless, the difference won't be there after the upload), I also notice a major difference in resources used with DXtory, it's visibly less intrusive than FRAPs is.
a little late to reply buuut...
I'm not too concerned with Dark Souls 2 being "compromised", it's possible but I have a feeling FromSoft will make a promising game. In hindsight they haven't deviated too much in any of their games, they are very much a franchise. From King's Field, Shadow Tower, and Souls, they're all fairly similar.

One of the great wins for Kings Field to Demon’s Souls to Dark Souls is that, despite belonging to the same franchise, the naming conventions meant the developers were not tied down as much; they could be freer in terms of creativity because they did not have the same perceived legacy to live up to. And so King’s Field games were fundamentally different to Demon’s Souls, which was a different game by comparison to Dark Souls. Dark Souls II is going to be more constrained by its very name, and I worry that’s going to inhibit the franchise’s main advantage
Does this really have much ground to stand on? FromSoft made four King's Field games (atleast?) and a few Shadow Tower games. FromSoft clearly likes to run with one title and sequal the heck out of it, doesn't really mean it has to be compromised. Maybe they just want to polish the story so it makes more sense, or atleast explain some things that they left open ended. Frankly, I am quite excited for Dark Souls II.
How many enemies are the in the Boss fight Four Kings? I went through 4-5 of them and more kept popping up...
They respawn, there are only 4 of them though.
Their HP is not split evenly into 25%, however, if you overshoot their HP all 4 times by enough you can technically only have to kill 4 of them, or possibly even 3? I'm not sure.

From Software also made action RPG's like evergrace (early ps2), and speaking of sequeling the hell out of things... the Armored Core series (which i loved)
And i am very pleased with my thousanding of dark souls... havent played demon souls yet though... on my list.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN IN. You are allowed to make anonymous edits. Please be respectful and only edit the workbook if you intend to add yourself to the list. This is not a universal member name > gamertag list for entire site. Only list your name if you own Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls I, Dark Souls II, or Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, or plan to, this way members of the site can coordinate playing together, matchmaking, etc.
After you click the link, the only thing you'll need to do is click "EDIT IN BROWSER", then add your FORUM name, then the gamertag/username for the platform you play the game on. Please do not copy and paste a cell, this will cause borders to look weird and I'll have to open it up to fix it.
