This is the first I've ever heard or read anything about feeding slowing down, or not feeding being faster. I fed every monster every day (except the behemoth because they get pissed). If they didn't have a special evolution food, I fed the category they like. If they did have a special evolution food and it was cheap/plentiful, I fed that every day.

Food doesnt do anything other than keep the mob happy

Doesnt speed up. Doesn't slow down. Just makes sure it doesn't go dark.

Going dark doesn't REALLY matter but it closes all garden points. cant harvest can't fish can't mine. And if it's happy you get extra shining stars.
