which does more damage from a subjob, runes or enspells? are runes able to be resisted?
Rune en damage is very weak. But then, so are /rdm enspells if your main job doesn't have native enhancing skill.
Rune en-dmg factors are weapon damage and delay, and number of runes. Formulas are on the
BGwiki page
RUN main and 3 runes, using an R15 Epeolatry(344 dmg, 489 delay), I was getting 47~51 Rune en-dmg. With only two runes, Like you'd have /RUN, dmg dropped to 33~39 per hit.
On the bright side, the damage isn't affected by much of anything, so you wouldn't need to try and scrape together an enhancing magic set on a weird jobs. But at the same time, you can't really boost it much.
Pretty sure runes have a resist check like virtually any other form of magic damage, but I pay so little attention to Rune damage I can't cite anything in detail.
Decided to mess with /rdm as well. DRG99/RDM55(ML31). 257 skill(187 skill w/merits then +70 in gear) was getting a 34 dmg en effect. So you need master levels, merits, and a ton of enhancing + gear to get in the same range as two rune en-dmg. Mind, that's Rune en-damage with one of the higher dmg greatswords in the game.
Both of these are pretty trivial in value as damage, so I wouldn't really recommend either unless you specifically need even small amounts of magic damage to trigger or proc something.
