Thank god for that. We all used to love seeing WHM, BLM and SMN get new weapon skills in FFXI, LOL. Waste of damn time..

Hopefully the lack of AF/relic weapons in the new video is not an indicator of anything.

The previous videos had the new weapons =(

We aren't supposed to be getting weapons til after 1.21. Not sure if it'll be 1.21a,b,c.. or 1.22 though I think.

Weapons won't make it for 1.21, most likely will be 1.22 in a new series of job quests.

i played 14 back during launch, so im a bit out of the loop however been hearing about pld mnk and all that for 14, exactly how does that work? is it like an advanced class? or are they separate classes from the original Diciple of X classes?

It's more of a job specialization based on the existing classes. Current gladiators go from slotting skills from all DoW and DoM classes, to just MRD and CON when "promoted" to PLD. Paladin gets increased defense and some new skills not available to GLA.

So the advanced jobs build on the base class, losing some "subjobs" but gaining new skills and abilities.

So if I am reading this right, the only Jobs that will now be able to set Raise are PLD, WHM, and BRD

Yup. It's pretty much FFXI with two unchangeable subjobs.

Eventually some new class will get raise, I'm sure.

It's interesting. My first thought is that it really sucks for some jobs. Much less use of sentinel, rampart, raise, second wind, featherfoot, which can be important for some jobs. Sentinel especially. But then again, you don't have to set a job either. So you can still just go to Ifrit as straight THM if you want.

I guess the biggest factor is how these new abilities end up working. Are they going to be worth it compared to the restrictions of only having two "subjobs"? And does the new content that is coming have some areas or mobs that make it necessary to have a new Job ability? I'm interested.

My first thought is that alot of people will gripe about the restriction, but as I once heard somewhere, "restriction breeds creativity"
