Wait, Shower scene, what?
Off topic from another thread: Seriously #2. >.> Go back and give VIII another shot if you think you're a bit more open minded than before. People really hated FFVIII because certain guardians unlocked certain things to sync magic to, and magic use made your stats weaker.
Know what that's called? Strategy. People who had a spellcaster in the group would sync Ifrit (unlocked mostly STR things) and wondered why they couldn't use magic strongly. Because your INT/MAB stat was locked, dummy.
Also, it makes you wonder if using that Curaga is worth dropping your HP from 9999 to 9982 cap. But you could have always gotten that one spell use back. It DOES take getting used to, but once you understood and grasped it, you could have made your characters beast and enjoyable. Zell synced with 99 Ultima on his strength, with Aura casted on him. Yum o.o
Well, one thing that pissed me off in particular (and this is going on 10 year old memories, so maybe it was just my not knowing how to get around it or I was just stupid) was, at one particular point, I had to split my group in half and do things with each group independently (I seem to remember it involving escaping from a prision or some ***if that rings any bells for anyone). Anyways, I didn't know I was gonna have to do ***with both groups of people, so I grabbed all my strongest characters in the one group...then I realized that the other group had to do ***, too, and they were pretty gimp, so it was damn hard to get through.
Plus I missed a GF pretty early on so that irritated me as well...
I wasn't really opposed to it because of the weakening of the stats or anything, at the time, I was just disappointed after the simplicity of the materia system from VII. That and I didn't have a guide, so when I'd get stuck I'd have to find ***online to help me through...in like 1998. Using AOL. On dialup. LOL
(And seriously, no criticism about using guides, if someone out there is just that good that they don't need them and got 100% without one or whatever great, here's a cookie and a pat on the back)
So anyways, yeah, I'd like to try again. I have a torrent of the PC version that I'm gonna download at some point to play when I have more time (my PS1 version is looooooooooong gone) and give it another whirl...
