Blade:Shun Quick Question

Hi all!
Recently come back to the game and busting butt to catch up but i need a quick question answered.

what does TP mod on Blade:shun?

I am not high enough to merit it and look at the info and cant seem to find anything.

I ask because for now my main hand is going to be the WS katana and I want to know if WS DMG+10% would be better then TP bonus (making 100% tp = 200%)

Any info I can get other then pick a dif katana would really help.

The first fTP hit in the WS carries over to all hits, so yes gorget would be best imo.

The TP mod is Attack. I think atm 200 and 300% is unknown, but I think TP Bonus would pull ahead because it should be adding some attack where as the 10% dmg will still have the attack penalty.

Edit: to clearify, @100% with TP bonus(200%) it won't necessarily 'give' attack, but the penalty should be less than it is @100%.

Is 5/5 Shun really worth it?

eh, think the question should be is shun worth it, considering each level of merit adds to the WSC your best off fully upgrading it if your going to unlock it at all.

I think i will go with the TP Bonus as it does sound like it will pull ahead.

I really doubt a TP bonus katana is a competitive option. Even if you assume that it nullifies the penalty, a STR katana will give at least half as much attack along with increasing fSTR. Both apply to TP and WS damage whereas TP bonus is WS only, and the TP bonus katana also has an inferior base damage and delay. You'd need to transition from a penalty to a boost for it to be competitive, not simply nullify the penalty. I haven't tested 200/300 TP values yet but such a shift seems unlikely.

The katana will not be staying main hand forever. It is what I had going when I quit till I could come up with a way to get a relic or emp. Now that things have changed I plan to work on that but for now I was thinking I may as well finish this out and use it till then.

I have also thought about doing a second dex/acc katana as that is what I have off hand.

It is a lot of DEX to be gained decent delay and not bad base dmg in my opinion.

Since it apparently needs to be said more clearly, your time would almost certainly be better spent making a STR katana (which will also be useful after finishing a relic/emp) than the TP Bonus katana. The only use for the TP bonus katana is as an offhand when Edge cleaving/brewing.

Not sure if the TP ends the same as the sTP katana, but the sTP ends up being 1 base higher than sekka because it has DMG+2 augment, if looking at sekka(arisui) VS uzura(hitaki).

TP Bonus doesn't get a damage augment, only the STP and WSDMG paths do.

I always assumed the TP bonus had to be in main hand due to the fact you WS with main hand not off hand. Yes it is 1 less base dmg but the idea was its boosting the TP by 100%.

If it can be off handed then i have learned something new. I may scrap it but its still cool to find out it can be off handed if that is true.

I guess you can say my line of thinking was that of a SAM back when Hagun was king. It had less base dmg then many katana but the 100% TP added won out.

And that is a big part of why i was so very interested in what TP mod for the WS. Thought if it acted anything like say Tachi Gekko or Kasha then things could be interesting...

SOOOOO if that is not the case. You feel the best katana for this WS (leaving out relics and such) is the STR 1? Why not the DEX/ACC to help pump up its main mod?

Magian TP Bonus weapons can be offhanded. Shun and NIN are nothing like Gekko and SAM, a quick glance at a wiki + the info in this thread could have told you that. DEX is good if it's actually increasing your accuracy, otherwise the increase in attack and fSTR will slightly edge out DEX for per-WS damage and also increase TP phase damage.

400 Shun with zero additional information is not the least bit helpful to anyone. For all we know you did that much to the Hahava reskin, which would actually be half decent damage given his high PDT.

It's basically either that, your accuracy was in the gutter, or you didn't actually average 1300 Blade: Hi. Take your pick. Is it great for mobs that trash your pDIF? Obviously not, but not to the extent you're claiming.
