1.19 might be late?
By endelig 2011-09-23 16:06:54
How can one have too much space?
That just makes no sense.
How is it bad to have more space? People are less likely to sell things? Really?

lets make sp 300 a kill now and let other people kill the mob for you(1.19), give us another 200 spaces because the first 60 increase wasn't enough(1.19)
make all NMs pop every 5 minutes instead of 2-24 hours like real nms, (oops, already done)
Rygel, and OP'er, where does it end?
seriously, am I being ridiculous?

I agree. they are making this game way too easy. They are just handing everything to us. At least make gobby bag quest..... oh wait, quest in this game are so retardly easy that it wouldnt matter. I don't like where this game is going

Then don't play it. Go back to XI if you want it to work the same way so badly.
Just do what I'm doing with XI. Wait it out until SE makes something concrete that doesn't change every few months or so.
By endelig 2011-09-23 16:32:14
There should be a point where it ends.
It's just important for all parties involved to figure out where that point is rather than blindly choosing some extreme one way or the other.
Something like inventory spaces has nothing to do with the challenge or lore of the game. It's just a convenience that doesn't add or detract from game play.
I'm not saying they should put the game in easy mode. However, building it on exactly the same archaic model of XI in every way doesn't make for much to look forward to.
If I wanted to play XI, I would play XI.

Seems they are trying to make this game like WoW.
Easy. Simple. Moronic.

XIV already requires more effort than I ever had to put in back when I (briefly) played WoW.
I happen to enjoy the company of the people I play with as well, so that helps, even if there isn't as much content. The fact that they're even giving (I used the word loosely) us more inventory space is good enough for me. DoH/DoL pretty much require the space to be taken seriously.
Not to mention the fact that we're all *assuming* we're just going to be given the room. We don't even know if it will require any effort yet.
By Yves 2011-09-23 19:28:56
Okay, let me do the math:
7 DoW/DoM jobs
average 4 pieces of armor for each = 28 slots
average 3 pieces of jewelery for each = 21 slots
average 1 weapon per class = 7 slots
consider 2 slots of undergarments = 2 slots
6 classes of DoH
2 tools per class = 12 slots
average 8 pieces of gear between all of them = 8
3 classes of DoL
2 tools per class = 6 slots
consider 5 pieces of gear = 5 slots
Okay, so right now you are at 89 slots for gear alone. That leaves 11 slots for:
*food
*items obtained via quest completion
*items obtained via drops
*items obtained via gathering
*items in inventory for crafting
Now let's just imagine that we can save 20 slots by not having all DoM/DoW sets on us. Between the items not counted you are looking at 31 available slots. Not happening.
Why do we need more than 100 slots? Because arithmatic, my dear Watson.
Let's now examine the idea that a player could simply store items on a retainer and retrieve them whenever they want to use them. Great idea! Except that your retainer is what you use to sell items so each time you summon them you pull them out of the wards. This is particularly interesting since one of the arguments posted was that adding additional slots would cause an economic nosedive.
From a Utilitarian perspective, the addition of inventory space maximizes utility substantially. In fact, the negative aspects of adding space are few and far in between. If one argues that economic constrictions exist an argument of the same nature can counter and eliminate it as a variable. Thus, we cancel out negative variables and are left with positive factors only.
In closing, if your argument based on a matter of taste, I propose you not use the inventory space - confine yourself if you feel it adds a challenge that you desire. However, if your argument is solely based on personal preference, you ought not suggest it be inflicted on all parties unless you would be willing for their preference be inflicted upon you.
We good here?

Bottom line : You don't like it? go play something else , go play XI , WoW, heck even take a go at barbie online , but complaining about something that's a + for the majority of the player base is pointless , seeing as to how SE responds to the # of complaints if the majority of the player base says it's a good thing......whats the point of complaining about it....think about it please.

Ah, obligatory randomized bold, underlined, and ital--- oh what's this? No italicized words? Well, I suppose I will forgive you, just this once. I'll let you off with a warning not to write like that.

Just making my post easy to read, sure theres a lot of other things in it, but the bold makes it easy to read the underlining as well, i'm just trying to help people with less than half a brain cell ^^, and seeing how the forums seem to be full of those....well the rest i leave up to you to fill in....^^
By endelig 2011-09-24 11:40:42
I read it like dialogue from a play....
curtain up
Hiro: You don't like it? go play something else XI!
XI: Wow barbie online!
SE responds to the # of complaints
XI: The player base says it's a good thing [barbie online] but complaining about something that's a + for the majority of the player base is pointless
fin
So I think the message is that we should all play barbie online.
Sorry I am one of the people with less than half a brain cell. How'd I do?
By hiroichirou 2011-09-24 12:04:03
/facepalm.......i just have to say you have one big imagination, well if this was 14th century Italy or France you would of been headmaster, and probably been rich but since this isn't a dialogue or play nor am i writing a script i cant give you a positive review.
I also recommend LOTRO, its a pretty good game pretty solid and people are friendly.
By endelig 2011-09-24 13:24:53
Isn't LOTRO quite old? I realize that I am in fact on a computer with sufficient googling prowess to answer my own question, but I do so love asking questions.
To add something even more on topic (I think), I am getting a second GTX 550 Ti for my machine. Could any of these mentioned UI or system improvements hint at any possibility for enhancements to graphics cards/SLI support?
I've heard some mixed messages on how much improvement SLI brings to this game.
By hiroichirou 2011-09-24 14:06:28
its a bit old, but it has the SQ and HQ versions of the game , the HQ version look amazing best water i've seen in a while, and from what i hear sli works really poorly with ffxiv , and lotro i have no idea , i'm using an nvidia 8600M GT
By endelig 2011-09-24 14:19:10
Hopefully they will make SLI support better then.
I think it's quite silly that I get any lag with a GTX 550 Ti playing this game not maxed out. I have AA off completely and have disabled all of the physics nonsense.
Was kind of hoping I might be able to turn some of that pointless stuff back on with dual GTX 550 Ti cards :\

On the contrary, bold and underline makes things more difficult to read when done obnoxiously. Hence why they are usually banned from reports and essays and many other forms of documents people tend to read. *jedi hand wave* Normal typeset will do fine.

well i bolded things so that it made sense , so either you can read the bold parts or the whole thing it still makes sense.

I'm really confused now, I play the Barbie online game because I like to dress up little girls, it's why I played mithra in xi, not because of dex bonus for better DRG.

Really, only "newbs" need more inventory?
I'm so glad we have you pro's to tell us how dumb our needs are.
I'm constantly having to throw things away, and I don't keep garbage.
Between all the NM gear, all the dungeon gear, all the crafting mats, all the DoH gear, all the DoL gear, and food, potions (us "newbs" that do speed runs all week use a lot of sleep/ungents etc.), and you know, gear will be able to be converted to materia, so some of us "newbs" are thinking ahead and holding onto certain pieces, cuz you know us "newbs" - we love to be stupid and act all prepared and all that silly nonsense Then there's the stuff we're crafting and selling, that all needs space, plus 5 slots alone are taken up with dark matter, cuz us "newbs" love to be silly and be prepared for repairs. Let's not get started on all the +3 stuff us "newbs" sack away, for when we're trying to HQ our armor (you know us tank-type "newbs" we are all "lolgottahaveHQarmor" man we're so silly). Then there's the whole mining/fishing thing where you get jammed up with the harvested items, I mean seriously, who but a "newb" would put that stuff up for sale so the server has raw materials in supply. I mean a pro would just throw all that ***out, *** everyone else's needs, we're trying to have "Pro" inventory going on up in here!
I mean no one was having any inventory problems, I just can't see why they bothered to put this in the update for 2 or 3 "newbs".
They at least should have made a quest for it like XI, you know- something difficult like go kill 3 things for 30 minutes, or like most people, just buy it from the AH in 2.
Or they could make it like WoW, where you always had enough space, if you bought more and bigger bags - for that one job per character. I mean yeah, we have 18 jobs, maybe 19 if you count Sentinel, but hey, math is for "newbs".
