Same goes for me. Everyone I know here in Wisconsin has the generic American "accent".

edit: Southern Wisconsin.
It could be because you're from there... I've lived in Chicago all my life and never thought I had an accent until I went to Arizona and a waiter we had goes "Hey are you guys from Chicago?" I reply with "Stalker!!!!" and then inquire as to why he really knows in which he tells me I have an accent...

Hmm, quite possible. I do try to compare my "accent" to what I hear in the media and on TV shows. From what I can tell everyone around here sounds just like that.

Not saying your wrong... just giving my experience because I was in the same line of thinking as you... I did live in Wisconsin for four years though (Milwaukee) and I never really noticed many heavy accents beyond a few slight pronunciations... And you guys call water fountains bubblers lol... that blew me away... Hey Flav where's the bubbler around here? ummm what the hell are you talking about?!?!? lol...

Pretty much all middle easterners.. I have nothing against them really.. I just can't understand a *** word they're saying most of the time, then when I keep asking 'what?' or 'huh?', they get an attitude.. -.-;; It's not my fault that you came to the deep south.. I'm used to how Texans sound..

Also anyone from the Caribbean, same as above.

I have family in PENN and their accents can be a bit weird. PENN accents tend to really emphasize a lot on the o vowel sounds.. My personal accent sucks lol. I still have a lil GA twang in my voice from when I lived there. Though when I get really like...pissed at somebody, my native NY accent comes out strong lol.

I really cant stand American country accents..all its many variations. It really doesnt make anybody sound intelligent...and then the adding of extra syllables ie

pet= pay-et
have=hay-ave

and then my personal favorite why=WAAAHHH or I=AHHH

hate it

however I do like British country-ish...that cockney accent..lol

The whole "bubbler" thing is silly. Bubbler was just a brand name that was common, and it caught on like band-aid or kleenex.

oh lawd, y'all would never have understood my grandparents on my moms side, they grew up in the nowhere of the tennessee mts in the early-mid 20th century.

one example: rerned/rernt=ruined=spoiled, eg "that milk is rernt now, throw it out"

as for accents i hate, most of the accents in new england, they sound so snippy and uptight sometimes

also stereotypical wisconsonian.

not necessarily an accent, but more of how they are, californian. it blows my mind how they can be so laid back about everything.

I doesn't matter which country or what language there is always that regional dialect that makes you cringe.

Mine include the Pineywoods Deep East Texas accent, CenLA, Creole, and the Northern Mid-West accent (think Minnesota and Wisconsin).

We can never talk because my Minnesotan accent would bother you.

You mean puh-jar-mas right? D:

For me, Kiwi accents just make me laugh, (ask a kiwi to say fish and chips, it's like fush and chups) but out-back, bogan Aussie accents grind my gears. You know, the people that actually talk like crocodile Dundee.

Fun fact, they are not referred to as bubblers up north. If you were to ask where the nearest one was you'd be met with blank stares.

I take your Central Scotland and raise you one Newcastle. I work up there quite often and for the love of god I just don't understand what most of the locals are saying, so I just nod politely with a smile on my face when deep inside I'm actually doing this :-(

The French

This, who decided that the French had the sexiest accent? Because I cant stand the sound of it.

Also, scouse (people from Liverpool for those who didn't know) sounds like such a lazy accent as if the person just cant be bothered to talk to you.

I'm from GA and moved to VA for work. The Virginia accent drives me insane.

Far = Fire
War = Wire
Tar = Tire

I do notice like it was mentioned earlier that the media is taking away a lot of the southerners accents here. My daughter has lost her GA accent and just speaks normal now.

I can't stand the accent from the maritimes in Canada. Its where the stereotypical canadian accent comes from. No I dont say 'Aboot' instead of 'about'... but everyone thinks I do before they hear me irl because of the maritimes accent. And I have had many American friends in game who continually bug me about that.
