i'm sure theres alot of people that have done it but could have swore they bid on that item well.. if u happened to of moved your mouse over to the listing in the auction house, and highlight a different item not realizing it then the one you picked with arrow keys and u bid if ur bid fails it hops down to the one picked with your mouse and u frantically hit enter again to rebid and oops u just bid 1k on a single ice crystal instead of a fire crystal :D
this one time i bought a dusky staff for 400k thinking i was bidding on pluto's
luckily i bought it from a ls member's mule and they were kind enough to return it ;x i've only done it once. and it was a couple of years ago...100k on a stack of fire anima...
On a side note I'm going to Rape Konoko's avi. She already has an "O" face somewhere in there.

I've been on both sides of this one, and I have given gil back sometimes but not all.
In the case of 100k for a 10k item, I gave them a refund, but I made them do it in person. In the case of someone paying 1k for a single crystal, I told them they spent more than 1k worth of time to bother me over it, and to suck it up and consider it gil well spent learning to be careful. When I messed up and paid too much for something, I just let it go. I actually sent the person a /tell and said "hey, I hope those were magic crystals with a guaranteed HQ" and they sent me back a healty lol. I've been on the opposite end of this one, I once put a scroll up for 6k when I meant to put it up for 60k. When I got 10,314 gil or something like that in my inbox (I don't recall the exact amount) I decided not to pester the person who bought it. It was my mistake, and besides, whoever bought it looked like they had bid ALL their gil on it. They needed it more than I did!

Luckily, the JP taru sent me a tell a day or two later and returned all the gil. I didn't approach him or anything, I guess he felt bad for me. I rewarded him 100k for being a nice dude. But, mine is more of a price missbid than an item missbid. Nobody has to give you back ***if you overbid, it was your own fault in the first place... Too bad I never have any gil to overbid on anything anyway. lol when i wrote this out i was blown out of my mind from various amount of drugs sorry if it didnt make to much uhm sense but i started thinking that the mouse would end up causing alot of the misbids going on cuz i was buying crystals and noticed my mouse cursor over a different item and after i finished biddin on the first item i wanted it would then bid on the item that my mouse cursor was on.

not to long ago i screwed up and payed 150k for a 3k item looked at the picture and I knew it was something I wanted but it was not the item I was thinking of luckily for me they returned the extra 147k and yes i have returned 300k to someone who bid on a item i was selling from a mule when they payed 400k instead of 100k edit... your lucky if you get your gil back i know if you click ok your screwed if you change your mind and im willing to bet you never drink... not saying ya got to drink.. just that you don't drink o ya .. and one more thing... nobody is perfect lol good luck on never screwing up you're stupid if you ever misbid or use the mouse.
