It was a few days before my first year of highschool started, I was home watching tv when they interrupted the shows to talk about the first plane that hit the tower. Then I saw the second one live.

Pentagon was hit, although the damage was nothing compared to the twin towers. Just like, half of one side of the building and not many people hurt. The one that crashed into the field was headed to the presidential ranch, w/e it's called.

im in england and was working on the outside of my customers house that day.as usual we had the radio on and the sun was shining.
about dinner time the news said a plane had hit the WTC ...i thought it must be a small 2 seater and somehow an accident.next they said it was a passenger plane and there was a fire (wtf).next the second tower was hit and the reality of situation began to dawn.
i spoke to my customer..was the first he had heard of it ,so he went back inside to put tv on.after 5 min he came out with a look on his face i will never forget and said "i think you better come see this" and lead me inside.must have spent 30min in his living room watching the TV open mouthed.
the day went on and as we all know all got worse pentagon hit,2nd tower collapses,4th plane goes in a field,1st tower collapses.
i know i was 3,000 miles away from any danger but me and rest of the civalised world felt Americas pain that day.

I was working at New Balance Factory when we heard about the news. We were all gathered, told about what happend and then sent home early. It was a clear sunny day but kinda scarry driving home, not knowing what would happen next. There were not a lot of cars on the roads that day most ppl were inside watching the news I thik.
With all that is going on I think it may be time to put together an emergency kit of some kind now even though my husband thinks it wont matter much if something happens.

Getting ready for work, was starting my morning routine reading on the computer. I start with slashdot, still do usually, and it was really crawling, but finally it loaded and I found out. Went downstairs and started watching from there.
I live(d) in Oregon, and being 3000 miles from it when I had several friends there was horrible. I went to school in NY, upstate, and knew lots of folks there. My close friends were ok, some friends of friends were not.
I had one cousin that was supposed to be near the top of the north building, but was running late or got stuck in traffic, etc., and wasn't where he was supposed to be for an appointment.

Heh, was in 9th grade. I'm on the west coast so I was sleeping when it happened. I woke up and remember I was gonna play some FF9 before heading to school... Turned on my TV and saw the news replaying the first plane hitting the tower. All day at school the teachers had the TVs on. It was surreal because it was actually kind of a normal day, school wise... Just a lot of tension from students and faculty.

i smoked a fat joint and went to work. a ton of people kept trying to tell me what happened but i didn't really understand or care. I was still in high school at the time.
I still remember the look on this 60 yr old co-workers face when he told me about the first tower. Then the horrified look on his face when the second tower was hit and he told me.
man i was so baked... i think i asked him why he was freaking out about it... he was stunned and gave me detailed details... but i forgot them shortly after, just his face remains in my memory.
anyway i was at work, a grocery store, i was stocking the frozen ***i believe lol

On board the uss George Washington doing carrier proficiencies. Woke up to utter silence in a 200+ man berthing. Stared at the Tv. Said guess I know where we are going. Not 30 seconds the ship went all ahead flank. Everything shakes. We only slowed down to pick up fighter jets and pilots from Virginia then b lined it up there. Went through new York harbor sep 12th about 6 am. Saw the dust cloud. Spent the next week flying jets over new York. One and only I've ever seen a aircraft carrier do a straight line.

I was on my way to work (a shop on Bridge St. just on the other side of the river across the Brooklyn bridge). I had come in early that day and had just missed the first tower being hit (I was in the subway). I didn't realize anything had happened until a delivery driver told me about seeing the first plane hit while he was crossing the bridge. I went outside to see... and the second plane hit. The rest of the morning was spent watching the towers burn. There was some distance between me and the towers, but I could still see the tiny dots that were people jumping out of the windows.
A full account being broadcast by Howard Stern came over the radio inside the shop. Suddenly he started screaming about the tower collapsing. My own thoughts were that it couldn't be true. There was so much smoke I couldn't tell. It felt like eternity that I stood there waiting for the smoke to clear enough to be sure (I was thinking it was smoke, but it was really just a giant dust cloud).
At that point I REALLY didn't want to be at work anymore, but both the subway and the bridge had been closed and I didn't have any way to get home. A co-worker that lived nearby offered to let me stay with him. I borrowed a bicycle that had long been abandoned in the shop's basement (he rode his own bike in that morning). We both set out riding along the river. The road was lined with people. They gathered around cars to hear the radio as they watched the the loan tower across the water. Most everyone was tuned into Howard Stern and as one car radio would fall out of earshot the next would come into range giving a near continuous broadcast. This is how I heard about the second tower collapsing. Chuck and I stopped (Chuck is the co-worker I was traveling with). We gave a few moments of silence and watched as a second cloud of dust obscured the reality that another tower was now gone.
As we passed the navel yard, people with body armor and shot guns stood every twenty feet. My mind was having trouble with the reality of the situation. Is this really happening!? Finally I arrived at my destination (Chuck's Brooklyn apartment). The rest of the day was spent watching the news on TV, discussing the events of the day with Chuck and his live-in girlfriend, and going onto the roof to view the altered skyline.
Eventually I made it home again as (most of) the subways re-opened. The area I lived in was populated by a number of people that worked in the business district. The weeks that followed my usual train ride changed from a crowded morning commute to just a few people. The roads leading to the train station were lined with cars each with its own pile of parking tickets. For me this was the saddest part of September 11th. Each car with its stack of pink papers represented an owner that was never coming back.

I was in the 6th grade.
My story sounds heartless.
After we heard the news, we were somewhat confused. We had a field trip to New York the following week, but of course because of this, it was canceled. Me, as well as other classmates, were wondering "...do we get a refund then?"

Economics class, Senior year. The teacher next door was the one who actually came in and told our class. Every class after that, save maybe one, we would just watch the news.

Well in stead we basically had a free day and was able to play video games, watch movies and stuff all over the school. It was fun as hell. I didn't care much for New York so I feel it was a better deal anyway. The hell is there to do in New York at the age of like 11 anyway? lol

I was in high school and had no idea what happened until noonish, never did find out til I got home, cause everyone was talking about a bomb being in the school [it was Baltimore, very possible lol] we got sent home shortly after, because they evacuated the school for "the bomb", so when I got home my dad told me what happened.

I was at school and then when my mom picked me up for lunch she said:
IRAQ IS ATTACKING THE USA! 3RD WORLD WAR JUST ERUPT! IT'S ALL OVER THE NEWS!
Bless her heart.
And that freaked me out a bit cause I was just turning 18 lol
Then I saw a little bit of the news, went back to school and had a history test and my history teacher was all like "behold children, you guys are experiencing history in first hand!"
I guess she was right.

I wanna say 7th grade. Music class. The teacher and her assistant kept whispering to each other. I was the quiet kid, so my stand was closest to her "office". Heard them talking about whether or not they should tell us, or let us find out on our own in hopes that we wouldn't find out until after school so we wouldn't be distracted.
Then the principal came on speaker and told the teachers to turn on the TV to channel 2. Then gave a speech about how this was a memorable day. And then told us we would spend the remainder of school in the class we were in at the time. That was my first class, so yay free music day~
Now that Osama is out of the picture, this was milling around in my brain. Just kind of curious...
I was driving to my high school in the morning when I heard it over the radio. I was late, so it was probably ten minutes to eight central time. I remember the confusion that the DJ had, and I'm pretty sure they thought it was a hoax at the time.
Most of the teachers kept the TVs off, but were all consumed with what was going on. (They had the luxury of watching it on their computers.) It wasn't until I was in athletics that our coaches abandoned mat drills, and whatever miscellaneous BS we were going to do that day, then I finally got to see what had happened. The coaches led us all into the locker room and we watched the live feeds on a continuous loop for an hour and a half.
EDIT: LOL! I needed to do a couple edits. Damn you, red wine!
