Quote:
Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak said in a national address Thursday evening that he will not step down until a new president is selected in elections scheduled for September. He added that some powers are being transferred to Egypt's vice president.

Saying a peaceful transfer of power is underway, Mr. Mubarak refused to give in to demands of tens of thousands of anti-government protesters who took to the streets for a 17th straight day to demand his immediate resignation.

Demonstrators in Cairo's main Tahrir Square jeered and chanted "get out" during the speech. They had earlier danced in expectation that Mubarak would resign.

Those people are going to settle for nothing less than him being out of office entirely.. So if he really is going to stay until September.. Well it's going to be an eventful 7 months.

One regime will trade place to another regime. Anything new? not really.

Most likely that will be the case but who knows.
They might have some good come out of it before it warbles on into stagnation.

The situation in Egypt puts all the other two-bit dictators and theocracies on notice. If it can happen to Mubarak it can (and will likely) happen to them.

The middle east will look a lot different in 10 years then it does now.

Will true democracies take hold... doubtful
Will mushroom clouds billow up... possible
Will military dictatorships rule... likely

Time to grab some popcorn and watch the show... without US military involvement. Let nature run its course in the Middle East.
