This is a passive skill, basically anyone that can and does equip a shield, will fly up the achievements because it's currently being counted as a separate class

Example:
Joe and Bob are new to the game and decide to level up together
Joe chooses gladiator and gets a shield right away
Bob decides to play archer
Both Joe and Bob level at the exact same rate as they always play together. When both reach 50 Joe has 2x the amount of points on ffxivpro, as Bob does.

Secondary classes are just that, please stop counting them as a separate class.

Neither Joe nor Bob care about achievement points on XIVpro.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all. Achievement points really don't matter, and people can level up a class that uses a shield if they're that desperate.

Also you get abilities so it is a class, even though it links onto other classes.

The achievement points are whacky on this anyway. It encourages leveling a ton of low level classes instead of leveling one all the way to 50.

People actually care this much about them?

it's just a bug i noticed in the point system that ffxivpro uses
the point system seems to be based solely on sp and possibly exp
so grinding a bunch of low classes only benefits your points if you are gaining more sp than the next person
SE is the one encouraging leveling multiple classes instead of staying focused on one due to that horrible surplus system

but i'll save my rants about surplus for a different topic lol

i agree most probably don't care, i just figure hey if it's there, they could at least do it right lol

Yes, leveling lower classes grants more SP than leveling higher classes.

Yes, leveling lower classes grants more SP than leveling higher classes.

Only solo for the first 10 ranks from what i've seen
after that you can get the same sp numbers in parties
and in some cases better sp at higher ranks
for example, 5 man party, all linking a rank 40 leve
party range 41-46, 4 stars, 650 sp per person, and this was
before the first feb patch that increased party sp

You can solo all the way to 20 just fighting Coblyns.

1-20 was never difficult in the first place
All my combat classes were already 20 by the time they did this sp patch
Can't say i spend more that 15 mins on a class before hitting rank 10 w/ the exception of my first class back at release and before nov sp change

I had a disagreement with my brother over this issue. He suggested that I not a count the Sentinel as part of the achievement point calc. I understood the argument that someone can get points faster if they use a shield/sword. I decided to just treat sentinel like everything else. Ignoring sentinel it will just create another thread with different people.

well sentinel is like a bonus for them classes... if u think about it, lets say u take sentinel points out will count only their main job (gla, thm and con points) only. i think sounds more fair that way. cuz it will be equal to those mages who use 2h weapons to have same points as a conj with shield.

But, sentinel IS a class and I do believe that it should count. Why? It gets its own skills. It has it's own set of attributes associated with it. It has it's own level recommendations for the shields. I believe that these are enough reasons for it to be counted in the class ranking.

If you exclude the ranking because 2h thm/con get gimped on it, then the wand/shield con/thm will get gimped on it. See the dilemma?

It's a sub-class, and equipped by your off-hand. There's also no guild for it, no quests, and can't be selected in character creation... Not that i'm too bothered about it being counted lol

Nothing is difficult, it's time consuming. The time per achievement point ratio is higher for leveling lower classes than for leveling higher classes. It's improperly ratio'd and balanced.

Achievement points, lol...

Maybe Bob should go level up gld/con/thm if he really wants achievements.

I would imagine they are waiting to see what the battle adjustments are before they overhaul the system. While it would be cool to have something more accurate, I think it will just be time invested in something that will change shortly thereafter.
