I think I just jumped to the ADD thought because lately it seems like lots of people I know have it or their kids have it for even the smallest things.
For example my cousin has a hard time processing what people say the first time, so he says "What?" a lot or asks people to say things again. His girlfriend thought he had a hearing problem and when they went to the doctor they ended up saying he had ADD and gave him meds for it.
I know a lady from school who got her kids put on something because they weren't answering to their names being called etc while they were doing anything else, like they couldn't multitask.

It kind of bugs me that so many regular human behaviors are categorized and diagnosed as disorders. Part of me feels it's just part of being a person. It may be more severe for others in some cases, but I can't help but notice terms like ADD or ADHD even being thrown about so loosely, or worse, medicating it so loosely.

We gave them more challanging work rather then drugs before. I'd bet 4/5 kids on the drugs don't actually need it but just find things too easy and boring to do it... I was always like that with my homework. I wasn't learning anything from repeating the same steps 100+ times (math wise atleast) so I just couldn't bring myself to do it :/

You are absolutely right, parents seem far too quick to mistake bad parenting and/or a lack of awareness of their child for a disorder or medical condition.

How does someone (someone on parole at that!) just forget they have court?
Friend has a warrant out for his arrest now because he forgot he had court today.. His bond is revoked and he was already on parole, he was going to court for a DUI (yes, while on parole).. I've spent a lot of time in and out of courts for various ***and I never forget (wish I could) that tomorrow could very well be the day that I don't get to go back home.. I get like no sleep, and I just watch the clock countdown the hours until I have to leave. mmmmm french fries :3
