Probably the same as an "Activation Fee" from AT&T when you get a new phone.

So you pay for the phone PLUS the $30 fee?
yeah... it's kind of a *** in the arse, but i got around it by ordering online. i got an extra 50 dollar discount, my 30 dollar upgrade discount, and a 50 dollar coupon code. after that i just had to pay the "upgrade activation fee", and apparently when i get the phone i have to call to change my plan to what it was. i'm... 90% sure this all went well and i'll have new phone inthe next day or two.

Too bad I downgraded my phone a few months ago, lol. The renew isn't up until next year. I hate that it reminds me every time I log in. It's like, thanks for the heads up. >.>;
