I let my gawking get the best of me and ended up making a rig costing roughly $1300. $500 above my budget lol. I suppose I'll have to compromise in one form or another.

What if it wasn't a dream?

Considering they're native to regions in Africa, you'd need to be somewhere parallel to such climate conditions, which limits you to South America and Southeast Asia. Also I'm sure there's plenty of environmental, animal ownership conditions and laws prohibiting such an exotic creature. Though if you lived where they did, I'm sure it would be relatively easy to domesticate one.

Question: What kind of software other than operating systems would benefit from the performance and speed advantages of a Solid State Drive over a mechanical Disc Drive, yet are practical for the nature of low capacity?

Thanks to all of you tonight! :D And grats on yours too, Bart, even though I basically forced you to take 'em. XD

Virtually anything that requires information to be pulled off the drive.

I have my operating system, Photoshop, Grand Theft Auto 4, Battlefield 3 and FFXI on my ssd for example. The programs you use less or do not require faster loading times can be installed into the traditional drive. Deciding which programs go on which drive would not be an issue if there were 1tb SSD's... at a reasonable price.

I'm going to get a SSD for a standardized boot drive to host the operating system and other various software while leaving high capacity mechanical drives for the bulk stuff like games, movies, anime, music, etc. I'm just trying to measure the ideal capacity size for my SSD after calculating things like installing Windows 7 and the estimated virtual memory allocations from 16GB of RAM.

I would go 150gb or bigger if possible. Mine is 80gb, 2nd gen intel, SATA1. Cost me 150 at the time. I think I've had it a little over 2 years?

Stay away from Sandforce if you have a preference. I've heard a few bad things, as long as it comes with a warranty I wouldn't care much anyway.

Hmmm, horror stories revolving around that particular controller?
I'll try and avoid it, but I'm currently in a love affair with Corsair hardware, so I'll see what I can find that fits my preferences, while avoiding traps.

I'm certain you will be amazed with whatever you get. 80gb has been enough for me for the past couple years. I would like to get another just for the sake of having SATA2 speeds but I really don't NEED it.

I wish Reggie would snort some more coke and get the balls to find the best lawyers ever to frontier the Virtual Console release of Earthbound.
Then it's all rainbows and sunshine from that point forward.
But alas, wishful thinking.

Maybe for you they are shorts. For me they are red tights with no crotch, black fish nets and red panties.

I will HAPPILY provide you a GBA emulator with a Mother 3 ROM that has a completed fan-translation patch to it. It's an amazing game. Truly remarkable.

Any chemistry majors or minors care to reveal the compound?
I'm taking a wild guess that it's water, but I rather not make an uneducated guess.
