The only time I`ve ever seen a problem calling someone ma'am was with someone being a super feminist and saying there should no sir/ma'am just a single title. As far as i know there normally is no problem with calling a woman ma'am.

i once read a thing about how your brain morphs your image when you look in the mirror. that's supposed to be one of the main reasons people think they are non photogenic. it's like you picture something in your head cause you always look at yourself in a good light and from a certain angle. not to say there can't be bad pics from bad angles or lights.

Perfect example.

For the modern generation most people use it towards older people. I personally say it to everyone out of respect.
