I think there's been differences between a mod either rerailing or shutting down a thread that's obviously full of off-topic discussion and flames, and someone maneuvering the conversation into places they're personally comfortable with, or out of places they're not comfortable with.
Which has seemingly happened quite a bit.
I kinda think at least being able to talk about how the mods perform, or what they do should be allowed as well. We all have opinions on them, and voiced in the appropriate threads [like random], I'd like to think it's ok.
I dunno.
I miss when speech was more free than what it was the past year or two. I like the idea of discussing the job a person does, without fear of retaliation.
I'm sorry if my words here were out of bounds or off topic. These are things that I felt should be said and I assumed that a thread about ones thought would be a good place. I'll drop it though.
Different mods and different forums work in different ways, you just gotta figure out how they work and then, as bad as it may sound, play them off themselves to allow yourself an enjoyable experience.
Some mods don't like to be told they are doing a ***job and will immediately try and call you out on "whining" and "being butthurt" in order to distract everyone else from the fact that they are ***to begin with. Other mods will just find an excuse within the fine print to ban you and explain why later. Some mods react better when you send them a PM about how they could improve and others will ignore it and only react/listen if it is posted in a public place. Once you know what the best way to interact with the mods you can get a little more progress done with them when it comes to asking to have a thread closed, or reporting another person, or even in some cases having them actually show you some respect as a person instead of just treated you like a two year old with an internet connection.
When it comes to forums, you gotta realize that FFXIAH is a *** mess. I help out as a mod on a tech forum and I am used to the ask/answer/close way of doing things. Sometimes a new troubleshooting method for a problem pops up and then we merge the threads, reopen it briefly, and close it again. Things don't get sidetracked, we delete duplicate topics and PM links to existing threads, we do our jobs as moderators. Here the usual formula seems to be ignore it until it is on fire, wait to see if the fire burns out on its own, wait some more, come in and vaguely make people aware that you have noticed the fire, then once the thread is burned all the way through you start banning people and eventually nuke the whole thread, so now the fire is out and the original question and answer is gone as well, so we all get to enjoy another thread EXACTLY LIKE IT later on.
Nevill: If you don't like seeing the same pics multiple times every page, then why do you have an avatar?
Why don't you *** about everyone's avatar?
That's not the same and you know it. If someone wants to make that pic their avatar, so be it. But to put it on every page of the lol thread in a long quote train is a bit ridiculous. I have no problem with the pic, just the placement of it. Pick another thread.
Are people too self-conscious about their looks or something that they have to be pissed off about cosplay pics of a very attractive girl?
She's cute (figured out what these cosplay pics were, sadly not who I thought it was)
Or are they mad cuz they know they can't get any from her?
1. Don't want any from her, married to someone twice as hot.
2. Its the quote trains that bother me on every page. Yeah, she's cute, go visit her tumblr. We don't need to see it multiple times every page.
So BLOCK. IT. Stop stepping on peoples fun! (As I mentioned multiple times, the only reason people find it fun is because the same few people keep complaining about it, which is what was making it LOL-worthy. Ignore it, it will go away.)
Hehehe I'm trying to find an animated gif of an awesome tableflip i saw in an anime. The site I used to get all my avatars from doesn't have it up yet.
Is telling someone to shut up bad? Cause I want to tell someone to put a sock in it.
I can take it.
If only everyone could :o last time I said shush to someone it was jokingly and I was tempbanned or something lol. So who knows what happens when you say it to another user!
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
