Though to be fair, we typically mooch off of whoever is hosting us at the time. Go to the range on an Army base, eat at their cafeteria. Go to Korea, eat at either Army, Air Force, or ROK Marine chow hall. The cafeteria at my last job was run by the NEX (Navy Exchange).

Edit: Field rats (rations) aren't all that bad though. Some of it you want to avoid, but for the most part it's edible.

Maybe we should send you cookies instead. Chocolate chip? Peanut butter? Ginger snap? Snickerdoodle? I will pretend not to know you if you like oatmeal raisin, though. Those are disgusting!

I bet you like any kind of cookie that Sav makes, though. ~.^ My husband will eat pretty much almost anything I make, even if it's not his favorite.

Well I finished my time with the Marines back in May. I'm IRR until next year. Then I'm out for good.

Now I cook for myself and my daughter. And Sav and her son when I'm up there (made pasta last night for all of us).

Really though it's cause ships on deployment, especially larger ones, run out of their good food/use it for the Officers and same thing with their CSes. Plus they have to buy in bulk from foreign countries sometimes. I expect the food will stop being good when I get half way through with my first delpoyment... whenever that will be.

That's one of the reasons I want Sub duty. Get to eat what the Captain is eating. Omnomnomnomnom.

I'll probably bake with my mom before Christmas...she usually does all the cookies...Max likes to help so we'll probably spend a day with her doing that....but then we're not allowed to eat them until Christmas day :(

You ride around much in any of the marine transport ships? I heard a rumor that a few of those are still nuclear powered, though they're supposed to be decommissioned or something. If so, how was the food?

Nope. I'm a computer nerd. 4 trips to Korea (with a cancelled 5th because of miscommunication) was as adventurous as I got in my 6 years.
