Whales are everywhere, its not exclusive to Valve, sorry to burst that bubble. You cant say “REE VALVE BAD GABES EVIL” when the competition does the exact same ***. People in glass houses shouldnt throw stones or something like that.
Your trying to re-frame my position, here is a reminder of what my position really was:
Haven't read the article, never understood why the internet worships that man as much as it does.
my position is steam/valve/newel aren't the saints they get portrait as
.
.
.
Please remember if you want to debunk my take then "their competition does so, too." doesn't cut it.
As far as I understand it your position is contra to mine so your take is valve/steam/gabe still are saints and deserve all the worship they receive?
I think we can agree that being on par with the rest isn't worthy of worship.
In order to debunk my take, burst my bubble or how ever you want to phrase it, you'd need to show where Valve does significantly better than their competition.
I went to Humble Bundle to see if I could buy Crimson Desert. Oops, cant find it. Maybe its too new.
Lets see what other big 2026 games there are:
Pragmata: 79.99 on Humble Bundle, 79.99 on Steam
RE:Requiem: 94.99 on HB, 94.99 on Steam
Nioh 3: 90.99 on HB, 90.99 on Steam
Reanimal: 53.49 on HB, 40.11 on Steam
Any other 2026 games you want to look at? Did I cherry pick to suit my narrative?
You did cherry pick, it just doesn't suite your narrative.
Third entry on your list
Resident Evil Requiem so far never went below 69,99 on steam according to steamdb. On
ggdeals there are currently 10 offers listed that are cheaper, 2 of them below 60 bucks.
I'm starting to see a pattern here. Shall I continue or can we acknowledge that the pricing argument doesn't always play in steams favor?
