Lotsa big mad out there about the Zelda casting

I was expecting them to cast nobodies that cost nothing. Don't know what the big deal is other than the fact they are making a live action Zelda in the first place.

Don't know either of them, but they seem appropriate. What's the issue? They aren't diverse enough?

A certain community wanted a specific person because of one specific, very digitally altered, photo.

But Nintendo knows better.



As far as nobodies that cost nothing:
I have never heard the names Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth prior to today. Atleast I have no idea who they are and couldn't name anything they've been in. So I doubt these are bank breaking castings.

Maybe a few hundred thousand with incentives based on box office success. Dirt cheap.

These are definitely low budget castings hoping to break out. But to be fair, they have to be young actor or actress to play Link and Zelda.

And the next announcement will be Pedro Pascal as Ganon.

I started making pizza myself last year. I really like it, I can get the crust just the way I like it and it is a pretty simple thing to put together.

mix dough set it on the oven while the stone preheats for 30mins, then roll it out, add sauce toppings and cheese throw it in the oven at 500F for 15mins and bam pizza. takes like an hour total, which is par for most of the dinners I make.

Schaeffer would have sucked. People really let one photo of one angle compared to one version of Zelda really go to their heads (and the photo of TP Zelda was purposely small, so that only the eyes and upper head would face "at a glance" comparisons).

There's been so many more varieties of Zelda than just OoT or Twilight Princess Zeldas.

Like in Wind Waker when she hides her identity by becoming the Pirate Captain Tetra.

And you really rather wanna back away from the Sheik card. Zelda took on the mantle of Sheik in OoT to hide her identity, by pretending to be someone else. That's not exactly an ironclad excuse to cast a trans person, and it certainly shouldn't make it desirable.

"Hey look everybody, this character pretends to be the opposite sex! Call all the Trans folks and get'em to audition!"

Also Zelda Williams is 35. I've seen from a few sources that Nintendo was specifically looking for late teens to early 20's for those roles.

Got nothing to do with look. She wants to play the character and is good in the roles she's had.

Whoever reads the casting the best gets the wig. Zelda will be in the movie for a grand total of 4 minutes anyway. They'll open with her being captured and end with her free.

Watched the two episode premiere of Strange New Worlds S3 (out today). First ep was great, picked up where the finale of s2 left off. I'm glad I didn't have to wait 2 years for that. Second episode was fun, looks like its going to be another solid season.

You read the too much biased message from this. The "normal" adult games on steam is still safe. The one that got hit are the ones with more morally controversial themes like rape sim or incest.

Also this targets "incest/rape content" not "platform". Asking them to target the entire OF is dumb because OF is platform, which is irrelevant to content itself. I don't know how many content on OF features father raping their daughter kind of content. If those OF content is just normal adult content with sex then it's the same thing as any other non-incest themed hentai game on Steam that's still safe.


As far as other "anime site" that got hit, do you mean Dlsite? From what I've heard it did removed visa/master card briefly in 2024 but

1) from what I've heard on the internet, they eventually get visa/master card payment back up recently. I can't confirm this without an account though, feel free to confirm it by creating an account yourself.

2) Many Dlsite users just got a JCB at that time so it didn't matter that much anyways...

3) Most important of all, Dlsite also has r18 yaoi games(basically males gay sex games who's target audience is mostly female, created by female creators) and otome games (date sim for females). So those impacts female Dlsite creators/users as much as male.

Trust me, I've seen large amount of r18 yaoi content with controversial kinks(like rape, incest, torture etc) got removed on the internet over the years. This is not a male v.s female issue imo. Just moral controversy that often also apply to female creators and readers when it crossed the moral red line.

There is a very big (female and male) market for dating/romance anime - I unironically really liked Watch My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 - and a big mostly female market for Yaoi and otome games/anime.

Almost like women like hot tall handsome men just as much as men like hot pretty women.

Recently mangadex, a manga reading site, deleted a lot of series after threats and takedown requests from copyright holders.

Mangadex don't take payments, but they do have advertising on their site.
