Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
By Afania 2025-03-26 07:43:36
You forgot "feed the resident trolls".
That's like child's play compare with what I hope to accomplish as a true villain though, so not mentioning it doesn't affect my evil score much tbh......
Anyways, back to my villain training program! ;D

https://wlos.com/news/local/table-rock-complex-fire-prompts-emergency-evacuations-transylvania-county#
First we have devastation all over due to too much water, now we don't have enough and multiple wildfires are burning around the area. It's gonna get worse if it gets too much closer - they've been cutting down dead trees alongside communities/roads and most of the debris is still piled up everywhere from those operations. They've already evacuated parts of several counties in WNC (including one where I live), sounds like containing it is hard due to all the damage done by Helene combined with the excess of deadfall and dry weather fueling the fire.

Honestly, definitely leaning towards jailing everyone in here except Panta. As long as you release me when the next Fromsoft game is out
Panta will be the guard dog. In reality, he'll be prisoner like the rest, just on the other side of the bars.

Worse, I'm a ginger - so a little bit of both without the cool factor.

Probably not an animal though, might make things worse.. Politicians. We can easily stand to sacrifice a few politicians. Mother nature would probably approve.

And Niflheim.
Also there's a new Vicenarian video out :D score!
Hey, what'd I do here? Except promoting porn games with incest, orgy with tarus, ask AI about terrorism, befriend with mega corporation like Google and demean human right?
Those aren't even THAT bad! Even my senpai said I am not evil enough and need more training on how to do evil things better. Ugh you probably play Sith in KOTOR!

I was thinking like chocolates or maybe at worst some diamonds, things every girl is supposed to like. But I guess we know the way to Chanti's heart now.

The UK has created a new "online safety bill" that is intended to censor the internet of things they don't like. They are threatening a fine of 18million for any website, forum or online service that does not comply with its ridiculous censorship policies (they are probably going to try this on with any video game that offers service to the UK too).
Some hobby forums and online games based in the UK have already closed, out of fear of the fines and being unable to moderate/censor to the degree they demand.
They have no power over companies based in the US (even though they are pretending they do, and are sending threatening emails from Ofcom to companies based in / hosted in the US), especially not with Republicans in control. I doubt xiah will get the email/letter but it's entirely possible.

Good for the UK.

lol buy me the plane ticket and set up the house and job, I'd leave literally this very minute!
The way people act online because they can't face repercussions is abhorrent.
You can have free speech, when the people who have to see it or hear it can bitchslap you in response. This whole shield by screen needs to change.
Free speech does not include freedom from consequences from citizens, only the government. The internet breaks that fundamental rule.

The way people act online because they can't face repercussions is abhorrent. oh I 100% agree with this statement... but you can't have it both ways. These kinds of laws are also incredibly dangerous because of their ability to be misused and weaponized.
Best way to solve this problem, remove the anonymity. If you're going to say racist and hateful stuff, everybody is going to know exactly who you are when you say it.
You can have freespeech, when the people who have to see it or hear it can bitchslap you in response. This whole shield by screen needs to change. I have been advocating for it to be legal to slap people in the face for a long time. So many problems would be solved if you didn't go to jail for a slap to the face.

The transition toward authoritarianism on the left is really rough to watch. This ***isn't any better than the patriot act.
The real problem is that parents aren't willing to be involved in their childrens' lives or internet use. You don't need the government to ensure they don't see mean things. You need a parent to guide their browsing habits and contextualize the occasional problematic content. No amount of controls will allow a tablet to raise your child effectively.

That's kind of victim blaming.
It's ok for cp to exist, just don't look at it. ...really?
I'd rather go to the source. Exchanging freedoms for safety is how it's always worked. And always will work.
By Drayco 2025-03-27 09:02:44
That is a ridiculous take and nobody here has said anything of the sort is ok. This law wasn't placed to protect against cp, we already have that covered. This law is to silence anybody deemed opposition. Be that opposing view points, social or political. It's not good for anybody but the people making the laws.

How it's used will always be a problem because it's humans who made it.
The idea is correct. The humans are the problem, as always.

Thorny is not wrong. Go spend any amount of time in VR Chat if you wanna see just how bad kids have gotten. Prior to the Quest 2 release VR chat used to be a fun place where silly things would happen. Now it's nothing but prepubescent kids running around saying every racist slur in the book non stop. It's honestly horrifying.
My question is... Where are these kids parents? Can't they hear their kids in the other room shouting the n word over and over in their VR headset?
By Dodik 2025-03-27 09:19:28
There should be a bill requiring parents to monitor and moderate their child's internet use, at the risk of jail time.
Everyone's children are not everyone else's problem, they're their parent's.

The goal of this imo is firstly to shut down almost all uncontrolled platforms on the internet, outside of the massive social media sites. No more forums, no more smaller games with online chat systems. It could get get to the point where games like XI and XIV have chat systems removed, since currently you can say pretty much whatever you want in them and there is no way they can afford to censor everything everyone can say. The problem is they have classified a person taking offense as the crime, so banning someone isn't enough, because the crime has already occurred if that person took offense. This started as "protecting children" and it has grown since then, to be an attempt to simply control what people can say online (for obvious reasons, they do not like losing control and how quickly things can spread online).
Once all that remains is the big social media sites that can afford to comply, they will clamp down and probably auto scan everything you type with AI to make sure you're complying before you are even allowed to hit post.
People can also now be put in prison in the UK for causing psychological distress to another person by a post online, this means if you misgender someone or question their religious beliefs you can literally be put in prison. There are no actual rules you can follow like don't say racist words, it is simply if you cause someone "psychological distress". Which depends on the mental state of that person.
This isn't a massive deal currently, since it is only in one small country and that countries users can just be blocked by the websites. However the problem is the precedent this has already set, and if the right party takes power in the future in the US it will become the law all across the world since the majority of the internet is based there.
I have the impression that this is the real reason so many social media site billionaires went all in on the Trump last time (zuckerborg, apple, elon etc), the punishments for failing to comply are 18 million dollars or 10% of worldwide income of the site (whichever is higher) and this has been cooking since 2023.
Whether a political party would support something like this, depends on if they agree that "words are violence" I guess. They 100% can do this in the US if they wanted to, it would not violate the 1st becasue you have no free speech rights on the internet.

lol, pass. You should just take RA's posts with a grain of salt. I don't believe anything he said is accurate, notice how he didn't post a source of any kind? Given how he is constantly caught lying, I highly doubt you have been given the whole story. I would even go so far as to say there is no new UK online safety bill.

Gab is a US based site, but others have also been sent letters.
Interesting video from someone that has done a lot of research into this act.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
