In terms of gaming, I wanted to expand the game experience in the beginning of the year. This year I played a total of 46 games, beat 37 of them(If it has story mode/progression), across multiple genres and multiple era, I would say it's probably a good year.

Only 2 games played this year are live service games(Destiny 2, Gundam battle operation 2), the rest are single players.

Only 5 games played this year are modern games released post 2018(dmc5, sekiro, stranger of paradise, Sherlock Holmes chapter one, dice and fold), the rest are retro games ranging from 1984 to 2000s. I would say retro games are still pretty fun.

Out of all games those titles particularly stand out as my favorites:

Dmc5, Stranger of Paradise, Dice and Fold, MegaMan zero 1-3(don't like 4 that much despite I completed it too), Game Dev Story, Blade Runner (1997), Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun + Firestorm (a flawed game that I played the longest this year)

I dropped a total of 3 games this year: Eternal Sonata, Trails through daybreak, dungeon siege. It looks like rpg isn't favored anymore ;(

I look forward to more exciting games next year! :D

Game wise, Ive played Palworld (my fave this year, and maybe my fave since FFXI, and FFXI is my fave of all time so you can do the math), but also fully enjoyed playing Infinity Strash and Xanadu Next. This kinda cements the genre ive been making mh preference, the ones with less story and more grinding/character progression while smashing shitz in real time.

Other games Ive played were FFXIII (kinda enjoyed part of it), Terranigma (Snes, interesting game that kinda remember the Mana games), Star Ocean 1 and 2 (i think this year? My memory isnt so sure), Secret of Mana 3 remake (maybe thus year), Xenoblade 3 Future Reedeem, Drakengard 1 + Nier Automata (probably this year).

Games I dropped were Ys1 (i was near the ending when i saw that i missed an item and had to backtrack like half of the last tower, then i saod *** this), Sea of Stars (turn based isnt for me anymore), Nier 1 (i didnt get into the game mechanics and got severely pissed by hitting a point of no return, losing many quests), Drakengard 2 (game was terrible, im sure the worst of the entire Nier-verse).

For 2025, i plan to keep on supporting Palworld and look forward to Xenoblade X remake.

I am still alive. I haven't learned to game with a controller. I have a new roof and electrical entry* but still the same laptop.

I don't hold much weight with labels, and our gregorian system of labelling the passing of time as such has lost interest for me.

Here's to continuing to put as much effort as possible into being a patient and unconditional father and husband, until the sweet release of death finally takes me of old age.

And as long as sooner isn't due to my negligence, that's fine too.

Wow. I had no idea our min wage was jumping from 10.50 to 12.50 next month and +.80 every following feb to $15 in 2028. And then being adjusted to inflation every following year.

...If it weren't all on the verge of burning down that'd be a not insignificant increase.

Our government just increased min wage by 4%.

On the exact same day the coffee shop that I went to everyday announced that they'll increased my usual order by 11%. Because of higher minimum wage.

Inflation caused minimum wage increase > coffee shop charges higher because of higher minimum wage > even more inflation in our life. The cycle is complete.

Thanks for making me 11% more poor minimum wage fans!

That's all ***. If they're going to gouge you 11% on the premise that wages went up 4% it doesn't take a math wiz to see the lie. Their profits needing to go up doesn't qualify as a reason to over raise the prices. If they can't compete they're supposed to fail.

Stop going there and let that company go bankrupt. Coffee house prices are a huge scam anyway. $12 lattes *** outta here.

The reason why it goes up by 11% instead of 4% is simple: 11% happened to be the number that "rounds up" in local currency so it saves everyone time to get a change.

If a cup of coffee cost $1.5 and the price increase by 4% would be $1.56, I am not going to waste my precious time to look for 6 pennies when I pay, or wait for the cashier to give me 4 pennies. My time and mental energy worth more than a few cents.

If they want to increase the price, it's more reasonable to be something like $1.75 so I can use a quarter and get payment done. But the increase would be more than 4% then.

That's how price increase ended up being more. It's just the more logical pricing point when it goes up because it saves the headache for everyone.

(Inb4 "but they can price it at $1.6 instead of $1.75 so no pennies", I am only using usd as an example. Using my local currency HAS to go up by 11% to make it round up if they need to increase the price. It's either 11% increase or endless penny headache, there are no better choice in this case.)

Move to Washington. The state.

In Seattle its over $20/hour. Some other cities also have minimum wage greater than the state's $16.66 as well.

Switched to buying my beans & making coffee at home, and I gotta say I've been enjoying both the taste and the big savings.

I mostly go to coffee shop for the space, not the drink. Most of the time that's the real reason why people go to coffee shops, and why such expensive service still has a demand in the market.

I first learned to do that when I was a teen aged beatnik in the mid century.

Biggest helpful hint: consistency. Once you have your own methodology down do everything just the same every time.

Highly recommended: burr grinders.

Enjoy the coffee, the savings, the ritual.
