Day of the Jackal is really well made, with a great performance by Eddie Redmayne.

Let down by the wooden acting by a non-believable MI6 agent played by co-star Lashana Lynch - can only guess as to why she got that part.

I tried really hard to get through the first episode and it just wasn't happening.

It sounded good but it's so... generic. formulaic. She was miscast, just not that type of role.

I'm sure it gets better, but if you can't hook on the premier you already lost the game.

I had to skip through a lot of her scenes, it's that bad. But the first episode was good.

Spoiler - the Jackal is the hero. Maybe not supposed to be, but is.

I had to tap out at the 4th one in a row with a full team of girl bosses doing power poses and saving the multiverse. Just.. too much.

Like 6/9 of the second season and 6/8 of the last season is all girlboss. it is indeed excessive. But not offensive, really.

I have regained a surprising amount of motion in my right arm. There's still some stiffness and pain, and I'm not gonna try anything outlandish with it, but the sling is starting to feel more bothersome than helpful, so that's a good sign.

If I don't have no pain without pills by January, I'll probably call up the suggested orthopedic organization.

It might be worth going to see a OT or PT in advance, if possible. You might need a referral, but some doctors/surgeons will want to see you try to non-surgical options before they operate or do anything more drastic unless it's something obviously damaging or dangerous. You might find it helps and avoid surgery, even if it's on your own, too....Depending on the procedure, you might need it after as well, so it doesn't hurt to get established with someone in advance

I'm dealing with something similar except I already had surgery for it twice last year, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. My symptoms returned a few months ago and I've been in (unsuccessful) OT that my surgeon referred me to before he did surgery again. The only reason he did the surgery the first time w/o requiring it was b/c I had been in PT for 4 months with no improvement, otherwise I would've needed it then as well.

Well, it needlessly dragged for 3 seasons, with a 4th season in the making. Aside from 3-4 characters whom I kept enjoyed the performances of, I would've preferred if it ended by the 2nd season. Too many meh characters that don't need that much screentime, and the show is riding on the mystery for so long without actually making much progress at unveiling it.

I kinda figured this was gonna be the case when everyone compared it to Lost when it came out. Glad I avoided it.

This made me think of one of my favorite crime shows, Monk.

His wife was murdered before the series starts, and you really dont learn much about it just a little information here and there but nothing really constitutes progress.


At any rate, to me that meant the show runners knew what they would do when the network told them their time was up, that they would not leave the audience hanging on an unsolved mystery. I love the end of Monk

After like a week controlling my food intake for weight loss, i went overboard with the fries the lunch I bought had with.

They sent a load of fries. I ate like 60%, and really didnt need any.

The lunch was supposed to be for single person, so i asked extra meat serving. But the thing is, the extra serving of meat could be enough for two people to moderately eat for a complete meal. And the meal itself had two fillets with proper sizing, so i ended with too much food on me.

Probably I could be completely fine just eating like half what i ate.

I just how i dont toss at trash can the effort made to reduce weight.

Part of every dietary change is going to inevitably be screwing it up to remember why you made that change in the first place. It won't set you back far, just remember it the next time you go to order food, next time don't order something you shouldn't be eating.

Healthy eating habits aren't set in a week, weight loss doesn't happen in a week either. It's a trend across months. One mistake won't have a huge impact, just learn from it and do better next time.

I never watched Lost, but funny how it came to my mind while watching From just based on what little I heard about it from friends back then.

Did you accomplish the plans you had in mind in january?

Was your year good? Bad?

For me, my plans changed drastically right at the beginning. My original plan were to work this last year before quiting and pursuing my master degree in Europe.

But turned out that I received that job offer right in January, and after some short thinking, I understood this current job could provide me professional experience I hadnt so far in my current field.

So, I delayed my original plans to the unknown future, and changed to the new job, where I plan to stay not for too long, just enough to feel confident about my skills. The master degree is still my main purpose, but probably it wont happen in 2025. At the end of next year I will rethink when I will try again.

For 2025, my main goal is to buy an apartment and move out from my mothers house. My expectations for that is to move before the mid year, then the last half I will focus on polishing skills and probably checking options to move to Europe.

Overall it was a very rushed year. The amount of information I absorbed was probably the highest in my life, considering midway I even studied like 3 to 4 months data science to at least understand the bandwagon. Sad thing is that I end tonight pretty tired for the amount of effort spent, and really fed up with living with my mother.

Its more something I need than something I look forward though.

Maybe moving out doesnt seems like big deal, but around the area where I live, everything is pretty expensive. A lot of effort will be need to plan properly how I will pay the apt, because probably the time I have to pay the debts for the apartment will dictate when I can move on with my other plans. The challenge is finding a good enough apartment but cheap enough that I can pay with 1 or 2 years top.
