Most people go for the quick sales rather than investing 50m of their gil into an item that will take months to turn over.

That is the correct answer, opportunity cost.
Morons vacuum up crocea and rostams but nothing else. So you don't waste precious AH slots and capital tied up in the other garbage. Every morgelai you craft is 100m(+) sitting in your inventory and not going into the next crocea. This creates problems throughout. No one sells materials because no one buys the end product. So everything has false rarity. Compounds the problem. Solution: develop relationships with crafters. If you're in the market for a Su5 weapon (or other item) which doesn't sell very often/is overpriced, talk to your friend with that craft and tell them you want to buy one. They should be excited to know they have someone to immediately buy it when they make it.
Hardest part of crafting is finding people to buy your stuff/knowing what people are looking for. That's how it works on my smaller server anyway. I constantly have people asking "hey can you make XYZ?" both in game and on Discord. Gotta network, people! You can get discount on items, get stuff signed (if you're into that), and find items you wouldn't otherwise be able to get. CAPCOM TGS YOOO

At least the ones I can communicate with. Something interesting I've noticed: a lot of the people who are insane enough to make a shield, will have alts make more shields.

Kinda funny because earlier I saw a video of the major scams in MMORPG. First red flag is always pretentious claims. Like saying something new is 30x better than another stablish one. Second red flag is small teams trying to revolutionize something despite the stablished thing has a larger amount of people contributing. Supposely the scam are always composed of the few choosen ones. Finally third red flag is said wonderful project receiving large amount of funds. I mean, if you have millions, why not investing some in marketing instead of quality. Yeah, personally I think its suspicious af, the timing, the wonders  And some limited missions to get 3k more crystals on top of the first-time rewards. I am so ready for Sephiroth now. Definitely not gonna be ready for Halloween to drop immediately after though lmao. ever crisis is a flop.
