It was just over hype, and do realize it's free. They will all start dropping like flies as time goes on. Of course i saw who helm the project and is a much of players who never could satisfy themselves after not being able to bot claims on HNM and be relevant lol.

I think its filled with people trying to relive their glory days and it ain't gonna happen. There were already private servers, nothing special about this one except its new. Gonna be the same dance but most of those people don't even realize they hurt the game overall rather than help, but clearly they already think retail is dead. Sad because if those ppl actually played retail and those streamers were here maybe we would get an expansion or attention lol
Someone could really do a case study on this. These people go from private server to private server trying to get that fix
I mean it's a solid 90%. Ain't ***else of any consequence.
That's why I advocate for a server that simply starts you at 75. There isn't even a point for pre-75 to exist.
Sky's not HNM
Sea's not HNM
Einherjar's not HNM
Salvage's not HNM
Limbus's not HNM
ACP not HNM
Moogle Coup not HNM
Shantotto Asc not HNM
ENMs are not HNMs
ISNMs are not HNMs
All very relevant at 75. You only need HNMs for very good, specific abjuration bodies and a few of the extremities(Heca Head). And Einherjar can provide those. The only things really unique to the HNMs are Ridill, D. Ring, and Black Belt items.
Most of that is all hnm. You're thinking of "timed spawn" or ground king.
HNM is a special mob. All of sky gods are hnm, sea gods are hnm ultima/omega/odin salvage chariots etc
Yeah, because HNM LSes were all revolving camping sessions around the specific term which has no direct in game label. There was definitely no distinction between a Sky/Sea LS and an HNM LS. There definitely weren't tons of Sky LSes constantly saying stuff like, "We don't do HNMs."
Better luck next time employing technicalities, Lawyer-boy.
What makes the new one good (saying the other ones are bad isn't the same lul)
It's more professional than other servers. They've made their own launcher and incorporated the HD textures and other mods directly into the game. The idea was that they were going to start the game off pretty much right as it was in 2004, trickling in more expansions and content up to current Retail.
But in the last few weeks they've also been really dropping the ball. Adding in things like Hardcore Mode, nerfing quest rewards, nerfing both the buying (more money) and selling (less money) prices of vendors, moving NPCs and adding bazaar taxes to starting cities to force people to go to Jeuno, and disabling equipment scaling when using Level Sync.
The amount of black ringed toonies on ebay is ridiculous lol.
God damn anything to make a dollar. Christ. It's normal circulated currency and dumbfucks paying up to $20 for one. It's not even limited "special edition" or any buzzwords whatsoever. It's a standard coin.
I will never understand the dumbfuckery that goes into looking at a (value) coin and going, yeah, I'll pay more than (value) for that coin!
To be clear I DO know why they do it. We collectively need to stop that. The value is printed on the god damn money! I don't care if it's made out of platinum or diamonds. If you want it to be worth what you think it's worth don't put $2 on the damn thing.

The value of a currency isn't what's written on it, though. It's how much someone thinks it's worth. No money has an inherent value. But because we're pretty confident someone will accept that Toonie as a value of $2 from you, you also believe it has a value of $2 when you accept it from someone else.
If someone out there is willing to pay $20 for it, then that coin was worth $20 to them. Maybe they think they can turn it around and sell it to some other sucker for $30 and turn a profit, or maybe they're just going to hold onto it as a display piece. Either way, if someone buys it for $20, then for that instant it was worth that much.
When the value is the piece, there is no debate about it's value. It. Is. That.
No one should be able to sell it for more than that. And no one should be able to buy it for more than that.
A $2 coin is $2 period. A $5 bill is $5 period. A troy ounce of gold fluctuates only because it has no assigned value. If the mint slaps $100 on that troy ounce, it is now accepted as $100 period.
Canada's $1 got the nickname Loonie because it has a loon on it. So 30'ish years ago when they introduced a $2 coin, people thought "two" + "Loonie" = "Toonie".
They were lazy and incorrect. They meant we don't do ground kings.
Or we don't do timed spawn "camping", we only do "farming" Even though Ulli/Despot/MG/SC were "timed spawn camping" too.
I don't think they were incorrect in the slightest. There is no coded term in game for HNM. It only showed up in patch notes once, related to adding in the alternate form of the beastmen NM leaders in like late 2002 JP.
There's even still disputes about what the H means. Most trend towards High or Honorific, in relation the titles you gain from HNMs. Others insist on Hyper because there was a time where not a lot of folks knew what the H stood for, since it's entirely driven by information not in the game.
With that in mind, an HNM is only what players describe them to be. The purpose of the term is to distinguish special NMs from others.
When anyone says, "Yeah, I did HNMs at 75 back in the day." Nobody thinks about Sea, Sky, Einherjar, or any of the other areas with NMs that grant titles/take large groups. They think about land kings, Behemoth, Fafnir, and Aspid. Tiamat, Jormy, and Vrtra. Then maybe the ToAU ones. If they're really old school, they might think about Roc, Simurgh, Lumberjack, or Serket.
You might be technically right. The devs might consider all event type NMs HNMs. But then the term is pointless, because it doesn't distinguish anything.

It almost sounded like fun until it didn't.
I'd heard they want to somehow nerf RDM's solo capabilities to encourage grouping. Second I heard that, I lost all interest. Not that I had much in the first place, since I'm fine with retail.

They're nerfing Red Mage, but didn't say how. They're not very transparent about a lot of their changes, and it seems to be already getting under peoples' skin.
One thing they've said they're going to do is nerf /NIN so it isn't the be-all-end-all subjob for every melee job as it was in that era of Retail, but they didn't say how they'd nerf it because they want everyone to figure it out themselves. I dunno, I'd be pretty angry if I unlocked Ninja, leveled it to 12, and then discovered that Utsusemi only blocks 1 attack or something.

Reading about the value of coins makes me think of back in the day at the video store. There was a young kid in front of me paying for his $3.50 rental with 7 50 cent pieces.
The cashier immediately pulled a $5 bill out of their wallet to make change and snag those 7 coins in a hurry. We just laughed and he was like "Welp, you know he just robbed mommy and daddy's special piggybank to rent a game, not on me to say no and turn down actual currency"
It's a good start but everyone who didn't/doesn't start this week may as well not even bother. So it'll be dead next week when people stop joining.
That's the biggest problem, you shouldn't even consider starting if you miss the initial influx cause there won't be a single soul and solo 75 era is miserable.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
