The big dreaded winter storm, turned out to be nothing. I really do believe the local news channels have a deal with the stores to make the storms sound worse so that people will stock up on supplies. All week it was like, omg it's gonna be sooo bad!! Then the day of they were like, "it's prolly just gonna be rain lol"
Last summer they kept doing that with the hope of rain. I'd look at the forecast and see 100% chance of precipitation for like 3 days in a row. Hours later, I'd look and it would reduce to like 70%/80%/70%, then 10%/50%/20%, then the days would come and we wouldn't see any rain anyway. Thankfully we've already gotten several feet of snow, so that should help our farmers and foundations a bit.
So far they've been really accurate this winter. Today started at -33°C (-27°F), is climbing to -19°C (-2°F) and will dump snow. Tomorrow is expected to reach -9°C (16°F) with a further spanking of snow, and then it
immediately drops back down to -35°C (-31°F) by Sunday >_>;
