W-why would you kill the mood like that, Mr. Meowth? This is why Skitty is better.
I had a friend who bred an entire army of perfect Skitties.

EDIT: Why do I keep paging?!

I call BS on the "supploy chain cost increases" Analogue isn't known for being honest, and rather annoyed by their artificial limited productions. They've made more than enough at this point to constantly offer preorders for devices and fill when they have X amount instead of limiting them further to drive up demand. As for the Pocket itself, if I actually thought I'd play it, I'd be more interested but I'd rather have a decently made handheld that can do actual emulators and more buttons. About the same reason I didn't order the metal frame/upgraded screen for my advance SP. I don't watch "influencers" the concept makes me want to shake a cane.

I get you. To me, I just give them a pass because they make very high quality products for a very niche market. If they made cheaper machines with less bells/whistles, I'm sure they could have more supply. Even the AVS by RetroUSB is in short supply and that's not AS high quality.

Good news! I've started disassociating myself from the acquaintances I'm always venting about on here. The other day I'd briefly talked with them about my thoughts on their fanatical anti-FFXI stance. I politely asked them to keep their crap away from me. They were hesitant, and eventually even betrayed the agreement we'd made about keeping things civil.

I refused a recent hangout. But a few of them joined a friend's virtual stream/hangout of the Video Game Awards, during which one of them just randomly (unprovoked and out of the blue) insulted FFXI.

So yeah. Now that they're fully aware of my stance on the matter, and still not even trying, they can go rot.

I wouldn't even consider them THAT high quality. B+ at best. But mostly because I absolutely loathe the fact that they are still using Micro USB. At least they switched the Pocket to USB C. (Hell, USB Mini B would have been a better choice than Micro B...).
That and their insistence that "it isn't emulation" yes it is. That and their sheer attitude, especially with the community. Kevin isn't as bad, but he's in bed with some asshats.

I thought their stuff was. At least the NT Mini is concerned. Sure beats the quality of it's competitors.

That's the thing, it doesn't really have any. The only one to really be considered is a public project with open designs and doesn't really (currently) have native controller support, or cart, which is what they corner, not saying it isn't possible with the right add-ons, and some are working on them, just it's not in the cards, currently (or at least last I looked).

What I'd probably like the most is a more robust pocket (bigger screen, more buttons) with a secondary board that would allow for save states and multiple cores. Then that is what I'd be after, and would easily pay 2-3x as much for it.

Quality is a subjective term. I personally find them high quality (especially compared to competitor "Famiclones") and the NT Mini even more so. Most machines built to play retro games are cheap, thin plastic, wonky OS, crappy controllers, a small fraction of the customization/features, etc. The fact remains that it's a niche market and a $500 price tag is a hard sell and definitely not an impulse buy. The Super NT/Mega SG took their design choices from what fans voted on in the Atari Age forums from Kevtris himself. They wanted the price down to around $200, so native analog support, anodized aluminum body and quad controller support had to go. Yes, they still use Micro USB but with the power draw of the systems, they do not require the higher power and cost of C. Maybe the next generation of them will?

I think you're referring also to the Mister project. That, I consider in a school of it's own. It's not a bad thing at all but someone like myself who owns a large number of original carts, it's not for me.

The pocket is the first to support a save state, though the state is gone if you change games. Save states are not a huge thing for me as I'm more of a purist but it's nice that the feature is there for those who like it.

I'm not going to hold my breath of anything better but it would be nice to see even more improved hardware, especially VRR support.

That's great! Proud of you :) I've done something similar and shrunk my circle of friends down quite small. It helps so much with mental health, I hope you feel better now and they leave you be ^^

It may as well not have it, and they're a huge part for me, more-so than using the physical cart. I do like using good controllers though.

I'm the exact opposite. I much prefer using a real cart and I do not use save states. No right or wrong in either of those. We're both enjoying classic games in our own ways.

I do agree, good controllers are a must. I love 8bitdo's 2.4G models. However, for Genesis, I went with the Joyzz by Krikzz. Was worth every penny. I just wish Krikzz would make NES and SNES ones too.

Did you find anything else besides Zelda 2 missing?

Not yet, but I haven't really looked that hard, just noticed because they have Zelda 1 listed twice for some reason. Also ***was listed under Legend, not Zelda... but I digress.
